NYPD being sued by cop who saw demon and wants his gun back (New York City)
An evangelist cop who saw a demon at 1 Police Plaza and acted "godlike" is suing the NYPD to get his gun back.

Lt. Dominic Maglione contends police brass discriminated against his religious beliefs by putting him on desk duty at Brooklyn's 90th Precinct stationhouse and stripping him of his badge and gun after a psychotic episode in April 2006.

" wrongful confiscation of badge and gun have compromised ability to do his job," says the Manhattan Supreme Court suit.

Documents attached to Maglione's suit describe the 21-year veteran as a "practicing evangelist," and say the 2006 hospitalization was because he starved himself because he was too busy praying.

1. I don't think

"police brass discriminated against his religious beliefs" I think it was more of "That MFer is crazy and has no business being near a MF gun!"

2. When you're talking about seeing demons, and praying for weeks on end...
...so hard that you don't eat, sleep, or go to the bathroom...

...then you're fucking lucky if you avoid a rubber room.

The guy shouldn't be allowed the possession of a squirt gun.

4. Rights and due process should still apply.
Until the officer is deemed either mentally defective, or commits a felony, hes get every right to keep a gun that the rest of us should have.

Seeing what he claimed was a demon should get him declared mentally defective pretty fast, though. It'd probably even qualify for a pretrial writ, whatever it'd be called in that state.

Until he's been through some sort of due process, he should still have his rights.

5. Miss something?
"and says Maglione suffers from bipolar disorder, hyperreligiosity and obsessive-compulsive disorder."

You left the most important information out of your quote.

Religion hardly seems to be the issue.

7. I think he should get his gun back.
And be issued a box of silver bullets. You can't be too careful.
His patrol car could have a huge avenging angel painted on the hood, and flaming swords on the sides. That would scare the crap out of the criminals. And it would look REALLY cool.
