Police officer, politician facing weapons charges (AR) (Class III violations)

A July trial date has been set for a Palestine politician and an area police officer who are accused of using the Wheatley Police Department as a cover for the purchase of machine guns.

The trial for Dallas Brogdon and John Henry Parker is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, July 27. Both men were indicted last year on numerous federal weapons violations. The indictment alleges 13 counts of misconduct against Brogdon and two against Parker.

Brogdon is charged with eight counts of possession of a machine gun not registered to him, one count of possession of a machine gun with an obliterated serial number, three counts of false statements and one count of possession of a stolen machine gun.

Parker is charged with possession of a machine gun not registered to him and possession of a firearm equipped with a silencer not registered to him.

“There was some information developed by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) which dealt with machine guns which had allegedly been purchased on behalf of the Wheatley Police Department,” said U.S. District Attorney Robert Govar. “As a result of a follow-up investigation, search warrants were prepared and executed at Mr. Brogdon’s residence in Earle and at Mr. Parker’s residence in Palestine.

to break the law is quite another.

2. How much you bet he just gets a slap on the hand.

I've seen this kind of thing in the news before. The thug (I mean cop) says that he "thought" it was ok to buy the machine gun because he was a cop. Then the D.A. says "oh ok, since your sorry and all we'll let it go with a suspended sentence and you can keep your job."

How much you want to bet this happens again?
