We need to set up an email list, to help get our message out!!
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 05:11 PM by virginia mountainman
Since a clear majority of us here at DU, have a vested interest in Defending our Civil Right to own, and use firearms, we should organize some kind of Email list, so that when BAD, legislation starts floating around, we can make each other aware of it on a near instantaneous basis. That way our power can be concentrated, and brought to bear on legislators who wish to further restrict or dilute our rights even further. Or to correct those legislators that have been mislead and we find them spreading lies on national TV.

The list I envision, would only have a very limited number of people that could post to it, to assure the message does not get watered down, and folks would get tired of being bombarded with multiple messages about basically the same thing. Thus, the email traffic could be kept very low.

Also, the messages should be brief, and ALL, will include phone numbers and snail mail, and email addresses of those that "need to be contacted" or in many cases thanked!!

Those folks would include legislators, newspapers, magazines..etc..etc.. That way those that constantly lie and mislead, can be pointed out, and pressure brought to bear...

This is just an idea I am tossing out here in the gungon, what you folks think about it?

1. One solution is for Skinner to acknowledge RKBA is a significant issue and most Dems and the
overwhelming majority of independent voters are pro-RKBA.

With Skinners support, we could use DU's Activist HQ.however I doubt that will occur.

3. It's tough being in the minority and it would be even worse if one was in the minority supporting a
natural, inherent, inalienable/unalienable right protected by our Constitution and that right was threatened by a simple majority of the voters.

That's not the case with RKBA because the majority of citizens consistently support that right.

It is a strident minority who threaten rights protected by our Constitution.

6. Keep up with the gun boards and post here.
Many of the gun boards have already set up an organization for the purpose of information distribution. The gun boards are massive.
The word goes out very fast now.

9. I'll oppose you, but respectfully.
We need not argue because our opinions are fully formed. But I have no objection to you working toward your system. The board NEEDS all opinions.

11. Email lists, webpages, bloggers
There are plenty of resources available nowadays. Nothing compared to the late 1990's.

One of the earliest email lists in Yahoo groups were modgun and gun toting liberals.

Of which Gun Toting Liberals is still kicking:
http://www.geocities.com/guntotingliberals/

Amendment II Democrats has an email list in Yahoo as well as a blog:
http://a2dems.net/
http://blogs.myspace.com/a2dems

Guntards has been a little slow, but they do have a relatively active forum
http://www.guntards.net/

Helmetcase over at ProgunProgressive is a pretty active blog if not an active forum
http://www.progunprogressive.com/
