6. If demand has increased to a point where there are shortages, why don't they increase the supply?
They won't. They want you to feel the shortages & the fear when the GOP blames Obama. The real gun worshipers will fall for it, of course.

8. The ammo makers are sending the ammo to the sandbox.
Over night the demand by the military went way way up when the war started. They are not going to build new factories now. Those factories will shut down when the troops withdraw, if they ever do.

9. At the local academy sporting goods
I shop at, every shipment that comes in is sold out within hours. Supply and demand. They are getting in just as much as they used to if not more, it is just being snapped up.

It's not quite that simple my friend, you don't just snap your fingers and *POOOF* supply increased problem solved. Mass manufacturing ammo is problematic as it is. Imported and domestic surplus is fixed, and who knows if the spike will last long enough to justify expansion.

Right now people are buying ammo because they are scared they might not be able to in the future. Remember that rumor going around about the 500% tax, true or not it scared people.

4. The shortage of ammo reminds me of the toilet paper scare of 1973...
Well, whether you believe it or not, there was a toilet paper shortage in the United States in 1973. The entire episode started with a Johnny Carson Tonight Show monologue. On December 19, 1973, the writers for the show had heard earlier the federal government was falling behind in getting bids to supply toilet paper and that it might be possible that in a few months the United States could face a shortage of toilet tissue. They took the words of this Wisconsin congressional representative, Harold Froehlich and decided to add a joke for Carson for the evening show.

Carson did in fact use the joke in a monologue stating, "You know what's disappearing from the supermarket shelves? Toilet paper. There's an acute shortage of toilet paper in the United States."

Much to the amazement of not only the show but of toilet paper factories across America, 20 million people that watched the Carson show that evening ran out in the morning and bought as much toilet paper as they could carry. By noon on December 20, 1973, practically every store in America was out of stock. Many of the stores tried to ration this valuable paper but they could not keep up with the demand no matter what they did.

No matter how you feel on gun control, Obama needs to step up and state that he will NOT sign into law any legislation that would ban or prohibit firearms or make any restrictions on ammunition. Any gun control efforts will be focused on illegal firearms owned by criminals and criminal gangs. Anyone caught illegally selling weapons will face draconian sentences if convicted.

I know that this statement will drive the gun control group crazy. It is however necessary to understand that guns and ammo are flying off the shelves at unheard of rates. The object of the gun control movement is to reduce the number of guns and the amount of ammo in general circulation. In this current situation, any mention of new gun laws is extremely counter productive to the goals of the gun control advocates.
