I'm going to buy a new rifle.
I'm thinking it's going to be a Larue Tactical OSR in 7.62, with the adapter for my Surefire suppressor.

Mark makes great stuff. Gotta have one.

(I like black, scary looking rifles...)

49. No it's not surprising that a very small number of people believe that.
Of course a small number of people believe that fake planes were flown into the World Trade Center. They say the real planes and all the people on board are in hiding in the Caribbean.

8. As long as you can carry it and enough ammo to get the job done. A lot of folks like the M14
A little story about deer hunting with .223 hollow point and a .270 both made nearly identical shots (a day apart, but remarkably similar situations) .223 exploded like a grenade inside the deer and liquidated everything. The 270 passed thorough and we had to trail it for 1/2 a mile.

I like having all energy expended inside the target ... not in a tree or wall behind it.

51. Oh, come on.
Unlike a fire team running full-auto, you're not going to be going through hundreds of rounds under any likely scenario, and the larger caliber of the .308 rounds inarguably makes for a better chance at a one shot kill all other things being equal. Just don't use mil-surp ammo that's likely to overpenetrate.

By "gun", do you mean firearm or penis? You really ought to be more specific here. Both guns and penises should be well-maintained, but they require different types of maintainance: I don't think that KY belongs in a gun and I'm not about to pour Copper Solvent all over Mr Happy.

31. A fair number of my guns
digest black powder. That means they need to be cleaned ASAP after use, or you end up with a pile of corroded scrap. So, it isn't a fetish like the uninformed seem to believe, it is required maintenance.

29. Anyone notice the disturbing trend w/ antis and penis references?
At one point is was just once and a while but now everything single thread has some anti-rights person with reference to penises.

I mean what is it w/ antis and constant penis on the brain?

No matter how many times it is pointed out they look stupid, or childish, or reaching for penis reference likely means you have already lost the argument it doesn't matter....

they have this bizarre penis post compulsion.

Maybe PPA? Penis Posts Anonymous would be a good start?

32. Recently it's been hard to miss...
The anti-gun posters seem to be unable to debate the facts presented by the pro-gunners. Therefore some resort to trying to get an angry reaction by insulting the pro-gunners.

Be advised, Obama has blown our scheduling all to heck ... so place an order if you like, but don't be hounding us as to when it'll arrrive. What with the ShotShow looming, and the inauguration (j/k), we're looking at a delivery of sometime in the mid to late 1st quarter of 09.

How nice. :banghead:

14. Some suggestions...
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 08:51 PM by dairydog91
1. You may want to upgrade to a 20" barrel. Particularly if you plan to stick a scope on the rifle.
2. Don't bother with a collapsible M4gery buttstock. Get the standard M-16 stock, or something like a Mako Sniper Buttstock.

The way I see it, if you're using .308, you're using it on a ranged target, so just set the rifle up as a true long-range semi-auto (Basically like a DMR).

34. I say
You can't go wrong with that and it's easy on the brass unlike a Saiga or L1A1/Fal for reload and trust me you will want to reload as .308 is fast becoming a rich-mans game being almost a buck a shot for cheep store bought soft point or .50 a shot for cheep fmj wolf\s-bear with steel case that you can't reload plus not good idea for AR10 to use steel

Good Luck:toast:

Very nice platform based on the AK, Makes a good "scout" rifle too.

Though the .308 AR is also a damn good platform.
