Especially interesting for this forum is the article starting on page 23.

eta: woops, transposed 32 for 23

1. No article starts on page 32

I can't understand what the article on page 32 (which starts on page 30) "What guns win the Grand American?" contains that would have special interest (but then again most posts in this forum lose me).

2. The prices! The prices!
I'm salivating here.

I enjoyed the "Little Woman--Big Gun" article.

Thanks!

5. Notice the 'military' weapons..
.. in the ads, look at all the springfield 03s for sale, as well as surplus italian, russian, swedish, and US military firearms.

OMG, teh military weapons! Oh noes!! I'm series!1!1!! Just goes to show that the recycling of military arms into the civilian market is not a new phenomenon, regardless of the selective memory of some gun control proponents.

6. Curiosly
Mosin Nagants seem to be the only rifle that didn't increase in price too drastically.

7. I think they need to import & sell another...
14 million or so to cause a reduction in supply.

You can still get em online for $79.99, but prices at shows and shops are more like $130 - $200 for 91/30s and M44s.

Still cheap enough to arm America with a solid, dependable, high powered rifle.

12. Yup. Mosins are still a great value.
I picked up an ex-Finnish-Army M39 (1942 VKT, receiver date 1905) in the early 2000's for $179. I remember seeing beat-up Russian M44's for $39.95 at one gun show, and I am still kicking myself for not picking up one or two at that price.

11. Back then, the Sten was $12.95 and the NFA stamp was $200
Today, the NFA stamp is still $200, and the Sten is at least 500 times its price in the 1950s - provided you can still find one that works at your local Class 3 dealer.

16. Deactivated Stens, that is
Says in the small print:
(All guns function perfectly mechanically but cannot fire since they have been legally plugged under U.S. Government supervision without interfering in any way with their external appearance.)
Still, Browning Hi-Powers for $43.50, surplus M1911A1s for $40...

10. $18 for a Japanese Arisaka Type 99 rifle?
Hell, if you've got one with an intact chrysanthemum, I'll throw in a few extra bucks. It could be a great Father's Day gift.

that Ruger was over a month's pay. The M14 got pushed back yet again and the Army let an emergency contract for M1 rifles to International Harvester.

When I was kid dad would take me into the local Gibsons Discount store and there would always be a few galvanized steel trash cans right by the main counter, those cans were full of old military surplus rifles, it had a sign saying "Your Choice 19.95". My dad would say "You don't want any of them, they're junk".
