Tampa woman stops armed carjacker with her own gun
<snip>A Tampa woman refused to be a carjacking victim when she was approached by an armed man who jumped into her car on Thursday.

The woman, who only wants to be identified as Adrianna, pulled out her own gun. "I just leaned forward and punched him in the forehead with my gun," she said. The man "screamed like a girl and almost dropped his gun" as he ran away

I guess you don't have to actually shoot someone.

2. She could have hurt someone with her gun!!
She should have let herself be carjacked, and hope that the guy with the gun would let her go without hurting her too much.

3. My defense against carjacking
is that I drive a car with a manual transmission.

7. Better yet, I'm a 60 year old woman
with gray hair. I figure that when I can no longer shift, it's time to give up driving.

I hate valet parking places and try very hard not to use them, as I don't trust that those working there will know how to drive a stick.

9. The gas pedal
mash it all the way to the floor. Fun to hold your hands out the window and say "start car".

12. LOL...yep that works...
I love manual transmissions, hate automatics.

I had a hell of a time finding my Nissan Frontier with it's six speed manual. None seemed to exist in Tampa or St Pete Florida. The dealer found one in New Port Richey Fl and had it delivered. I love this pickup truck, it seems faster than the one I tested with an auto transmission. Being a medium sized pickup with 265 horsepower, it has surprising acceleration.

Not many people can drive a vehicle with a manual gear box any more.

If someone tries to carjack me, I'll just laugh and point out the gear shift. (If that doesn't work, I'll probably just have to shoot him.)

Actually, I'd probably use the approach that a tough little guy, who had a CCW permit, used. He was caught off guard when a guy ran up to his car at a stoplight, stuck a gun to his head and told him to get out.

He said, "Fuck you". Floored the accelerator pedal and left the carjacker standing in the road in surprise. (Yes, my acquaintance did have his firearm on him.)

All's well that ends well.

I'm an old fashioned type of guy. I also like revolvers better than semi-autos.

11. No, this cannot be. I've been told that such uses of a firearm only happen in fantasy land.
