People ran for cover Saturday night after someone shouted “gun” at a carnival at the Hamden Mart.

The person who allegedly was pointing a gun at people was not found, but when police arrived, they saw “hundreds of patrons” leaving because someone had yelled the word, Capt. Ronald Smith said Monday.

“There were some reports that parents were protecting their children as they were running away,” Smith said.

Meanwhile, when police arrived at about 9:30 p.m., they saw 15 to 20 people brawling. They ran when police arrived, Smith said.

If I were there concealing I would had been looking for the guy with the gun not running like a fool, putting the choice of my and my families survival in the hands of the guy with the gun. And there probably wasn't anyone with a gun.
