Gun rights group's planned 'open carry' dinner moved to different restaurant after publicity
DETROIT — A Detroit gun rights group says its planned "open carry" dinner has been moved to a different restaurant on an earlier date because of publicity over plans for dozens of people to wear holstered weapons in plain sight.

Event organizer Rick Ector is a firearms instructor and runs the blog "Legally Armed In Detroit."

On Monday, Ector said the dinner would be April 21 at the Big Boy Restaurant on Jefferson Avenue, opposite the Belle Isle bridge.

But Wednesday, Ector said the restaurant's owner had second thoughts after publicity over the event.
