SPRINGFIELD -- Votes Wednesday on two proposals to impose new gun restrictions in Illinois may point to increasing support for concealed carry in the General Assembly.

"I still feel very good about it," said Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, sponsor of a House concealed carry bill. "We've been asked by some Cook County legislators about maybe making some deals.

"I really believe we're close to 70 (votes). We're getting there all the time."

Why does my gun scare you?
Outside of military service I have never fired a weapon at another human being ever. I've undergone an extensive back ground check , I've taken several firearms safety and competency courses. I scrupulously adhere to the 4 rules.

How ,exactly, does my gun threaten you?

Not saying you will do the shooting, but someone else might.

More guns = more dead people.

And don't tell me there wont be crossfire, because if not then there's no point in carrying a weapon in public.

why are firearms deaths down at a time when firearms ownership is at an all time high?

There really isn't a high instance of the type of incident you refer to and when it does happen it's most generally because someone got caught in a cross fire of gang bangers who couldn't care less about collateral damage

ETA I'd also like to point that I carry JHPs in all my carry guns specifically because they have a tendency to dump their energy in the target and very rarely over penetrate ( IOW they won't hit the bad guy and keep on going)

28. Well, for starters 2 new states allow concealed carry

W/ no permit what so ever. Several others have gone from may issue to shall issue and it is highly likely that every state in the Union will have some form of concealed carry by the end of the year
