Michele Bachmann wants gun owners on 2012 front lines
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0411/53964.html

In a well-received video greeting, Rep. Michele Bachmann urged gun owners Friday to be as engaged in 2012 as they were during the midterm elections that gave Republicans control of the House.

“The right to keep and bear arms has to be protected because the Second Amendment is the final guarantor of all our constitutional rights,” the Minnesota Republican edit: moransaid in a pre-record message for thousands of activists at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting. “In 18 months, we’ll face one of the most important elections of our time. In 2012, we have the opportunity to repeal the current president and elect a Constitutional conservative who will protect our Second Amendment rights.”

The tea party edit: moranfavorite and likely presidential candidate received cheers and applause when the video projected onto three big screens in a ballroom of the convention center here. The pre-recorded message didn’t include pauses for applause lines, and as a result the approval of the crowd overwhelmed a few Bachmann lines.

“Just as you were last year, I know that all of you will again be on the front lines of this political battle because that’s what we have to do to ensure that our Second Amendment rights survive,” Bachmann said.

1. The thing is.....
....I can't for the life of me figure out why so many anti-gun people cannot grasp the number of legitimate, responsible gun-owners who find Bachmann, and her views as despicable as their own. This will never be resolved, and no headway will ever be made until the anti-gun people finally realize that their broad blanket rhetoric is an insult to many potential allies. Deer hunter who hunts in season, with a license? Same as the criminal on the street. That's the consensus, as far as I can tell among the more rabid anti-gun crowd. The brain is not there to simply occupy space. Thanks.

3. If I was that writer
I'd be on the phone with my lawyer complaining about someone screwing with my copyrighted article.

4. Too bad she won't like which front line the gun owners are standing on.
As a gun owner, Obama hasn't given me reason for concern. Even if he had, I can't jump ship on the umpteen other issues on the line.

7. I haven't lived
in district 6 for a few years now, but i can tell you (anecdote only) that her stance on gun rights was a very large contributing factor
in her win over Elwin Tinklinberg in 2008.
