Child injured, man in custody after teen discharges gun in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized Wednesday night after his friend accidentally fired a pistol, sending debris from a bullet’s impact into the boy’s eye.

This happened Wednesday shortly after 6 p.m. in a home at the corner of Chippewa and Illinois in south St. Louis.

Authorities say the boy’s friend, a 16-year-old neighbor, fired a gun that was not locked away. After the shooting, both boys ran to the victim’s residence in the 3800 block of Missouri. The victim was taken to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The gun belonged to his 20-year-old brother, who’s now in custody for allegedly endangering the welfare of a child. The 16-year-old who fired the gun is not in trouble.

It's not Churlish, but I did expect people to know the history of the NRA and other's call for MORE guns on campus after shootings.
