picked up an absolutely mint one at the phoenix gun show yesterday. only $145 in a private sale. when people talk about the gun show loophole this is what they really mean. what they want to ban is private individuals selling their own property to other private individuals.

I agree that gun shows sometimes aren't regulated the same way, but 1) I have never been to a gun show that allowed private sale (it's by state I think), and 2) criminals don't get guns from gun shows.

your guns priveately to another individual without going thru a ffl? or are all private sales banned?

but states can individually require any additional formalities they want. Some states require special procedures for all private sales. Some states require procedures for transactions that originate or consummate at gun shows.

I mean if we can't make the act of a son inheriting his fathers trap shotgun a felony - what sort of world do we have to look forward to?

Who cares if prison interviews of violent felons indicate that gun shows are not the place they choose to get their guns? What's in the government's best interest is to be involved in every facet of the American family's day-to-day doings. Now that's safety!

6. I think a lot of it is just

job justification on the part of ATF. it will take a lot of manpower and hence budget to track all these private transfers. and you're right public safety doesn't enter into it.
how about we move all these public servants from administering firearms transfers betwen law-abiding citizens to setting up an efficient public health network?
