Guns allowed on school grounds? Cleveland County lawmakers vote yes
SHELBY — Parents and teachers with concealed handgun permits could legally bring their guns to school under a bill that Cleveland County lawmakers supported in the state House last week.

A measure to loosen gun restrictions in the Tar Heel State would allow concealed carry permit-holders to have their handguns on school grounds if the firearms are kept inside a closed compartment or container within a locked car. Reps. Tim Moore, Kelly Hastings and Mike Hager voted for the bill, which won approval in the House June 7 and is slated for committee hearings in the state Senate.

A little common sense for gun owners picking up or dropping off students and for hunters during season.

2. Is that why they make cops leave theirs on the sidewalk?

3. lol, a "death weapon".
Seriously, did that not sound completely ridiculous when you typed it up?

Anyway, there is everything common sense about the law abiding being able to carry on school grounds because there is nothing stopping those who have no intention of abiding by the law from carrying there. The "gun free zone" program is an abject failure, and the sooner folks like you wake up and smell the BS, the better we will all be.

4. Oh I don't know, where I went once a week the rifle club would
we would put the rifle in the our lockers, unloaded and encased, box of shells on the shelf. They stayed until we went to the range in the basement. No school shootings, blood flowing in the hallways, none of that. Rifles in gun racks in trucks during hunting season.

9. Where did it say "carrying"?
The article talked about transporting the weapon, in a locked compartment or container in the vehicle.
