(Florida) Man charged after firing shots (at party revelers in Maine)

CARTHAGE – A Florida man faces charges after police say he apparently fired shots over the heads of people partying on River Road about midnight Saturday, Franklin County Sheriff's Lt. Niles Yeaton said.

When party-goers started hearing shots go overhead, seeing muzzle blasts and branches falling they called police.

Cpl. Kenneth Charles, Sgt. Steve Lowell and Deputy Matthew Brann responded, and determined the gunshots were coming from a nearby camp, Yeaton said.

They went to the place and discovered a man who was intoxicated holding a .22-caliber pistol and a .44-caliber Magnum rifle, he said.

This is why I do not want reciprocal CCW in Maine....things are bad enough without Flatlanders shooting the place up just because they think they can do it and get away with it.

yup

8. Say what?
You don't want reciprocal CCW in Maine so drunk Floridians can't threaten people partying in the woods?

I don't see any connection there.

How about we just use the laws on the books to deal with the situation at hand?

Those Carthage folk are all inbred and crazy anyways. I know. I grew up in Franklin County.

9. Because reciprocal CCW would cause more of these incidents?
He was in a campground, at his campsite. This is like saying you don't want reciprocal CCW because you're afraid it will somehow encourage more people to step outside their house and shoot randomly at trees.

10. I too missed the part about the shooter having a CCW
jpak,

You might shit yourself to find out, but Maine is a Shall Issue state. Maine has a handful of reciprocal agreements with other states, but they will issue to out of staters directly. I know because I had a Maine CCW for a while. They do the whole thing entirely mail order.
