Wanna see a real live idiot?
Edited on Thu Aug-25-11 12:32 AM by MyrnaLoy
"Rep. Marv Hagedorn, R-Meridian, who co-sponsored a 2011 bill that would have allowed concealed weapons holders to take guns on campus, wrote University of Idaho President Duane Nellis late Tuesday. Teaching gun safety "could have possibly served as a deterrent to the shooter had he really understood what the mis-use of his gun really meant to her and her family as well as his," Hagedorn wrote.

Really Marv? Without gun safety training the shooter wouldn't have know a .45 cal lead projectile would penetrate this young woman's body? Gun safety teaches how to deal with a breakup? What exactly are you trying to say Marv? I got it, you have no fucking idea what you are talking about. Go back to doing one handed pull-ups on the NRA dicks. This was Marv's response to this incident, A college professor who alternately referred to himself as a "psychopathic killer" and "the beast" killed himself after fatally shooting a graduate student he had recently dated. Yeah, gun safety training was going to help this guy and save this young woman. Rightttt.

1. I was listening to that idiot on the radio this afternoon on my way back thru Idaho from Montana...
The bottom line is, no amount of "teaching gun safety" would have prevented this incident.

The freaking assistant professor in question who is alleged to have killed that grad student, reportedly threatened her several times before, including STICKING A GUN IN HER MOUTH on one occasion, according to her room-mates.

Yet, nobody reported these FELONIES (Aggravated Assaults) to the police, so nothing was ever done to the assailant, his guns were never taken away.

The signs of potential violence were all over the place, but everyone involved stuck their heads in the sand and ignored it until it spiraled out of control and the good perp decided to finally pull the trigger.

At least he had the decency to kill himself afterwards, so we don't have to waste any money on a trial and lengthy incarceration...

2. this guy is too out there for the NRA
GOA maybe, but leave it to some dumbassed politician to jump in front of a camera and say something stupid. I hope someone asked if each personality should take the class separately.

3. A gun advocate contorting all logic
to blame the victims? I've never seen such a thing.

A vile piece of talking garbage who thinks the solution to gun violence is more guns? I've never seen that before.

5. They need to teach how valuable ones second amendment rights are...
They need to teach how valuable ones second amendment rights are...above all others it should be understood that the right to defend yourself and family is the most sacred of all rights. That only through due diligence can future generations be guaranteed the freedom of ownership and use without more severe restrictions. We need everyone to know if they chose to use a firearm in any other manor than self defense they’re doing a disservice to all Americans. (excluding shooting sports and hunting of course)

There also needs to be safety classes that backup the safe handling of all firearms. I for one am tired of guns being victimized by ignorant users who drop them in toilets, or try and clean one without clearing the chamber. Dolts like this aren’t much better than the punk ass thugs that pull a gun when their stash runs low, or their neighbors dog drops a log in your lawn.

6. this is the bizarre "responsible gun owner" meme
Edited on Thu Aug-25-11 07:49 AM by iverglas
Teach kids "gun safety" when they're three years old, and they won't grow up to rob convenience stores with guns, mug people on the street with guns, control their wives and girlfriends with guns, kill their wives and girlfriends with guns, kill themselves with guns, use guns to administer their share of the drug trafficking market ............

Teaching and DEMANDING respect for women might have meant something in this case and a whole lot of others.

Zero tolerance for abusive behaviour toward girls and women is the starting point. Part of that is teaching that one does not intimidate or threaten or control or hurt one's female intimates with guns. In this case, dealing effectively with the other incidents of abuse and exploitation in this person's history would have been at least evidence of some effort, late though it might have been.

And taking effective measures to keep guns out of the hands of people who don't learn that lesson is another essential step.

I do love it when cretins like this one show their true colours, though. Morons and assholes. Well, I doubt the moron part, actually. Calculating. A window of opportunity for shoving the agenda was there, and he took it. His right-wing gun militant base will be nodding approvingly, even though they know as well as everybody else that his actions are beyond the pale.

8. Yup, an idiot.
If teaching people that murder is wrong won't stop the deranged, teaching gun safety won't stop it, either.

You can't teach people out of violent insanity.
