Triple Murder / Suicide in Pittsburg CA
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/11/11/BAOT1LTBC4.DTL">SF Gate reports

A Pittsburg man suffering from financial problems posted a suicide note on Facebook, then shot and killed his wife and her parents early Thursday in his foreclosed home before turning the gun on himself, police said.

Do you think anyone checked if this guy was a concealed carry permit holder? I don't. I don't think anyone cares if he is in cases like this. That's why the claim that CCW permit holders are responsible for so little trouble is wrong. No one knows how much trouble they actually cause.

Was this the economy's fault. Yes, in a sense, at least partly.

Was the fact that they guy had a gun available partly responsible? Yes, very likely. It's too easy to kill people with a gun. Without one, it takes more resolve and motivation, which many distraught people do not have.

Would mental health screening have identified this guy as a risk? Perhaps, it certainly would pick up some, the worst cases for sure.

What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.

2. Since handguns are still legal in the Bay Area, CCW status is irrelevant
Moreover, in the bay area, CCWs are very hard to get unless you are very rich, a celebrity, or a high profile politician.

3. If it's premeditated, the CCW permit status doesn't matter
CCW status can only be a debate point if a person decides to commit murder without premeditation AND away from the person's house and vehicle.

4. It's highly unlikely that the individual had a concealed carry permit ...
as he lives in Pittsburg, California which is in Contra Costa County, a "no issue" county.

5. You don't need a CPL to carry in your home.
Which is why every time you post some shit like this, it is obviously disingeniuous bullshit.

Where are the murder/suicides in which the person who committed the crime, was ENABLED by the permit to accomplish it?

If the subject above had a permit, it did not enable the crime. No one ever claimed that every person with a permit was a saint. You DO understand statistics, right?

(And the media will surface any permits in a day or so, you can be certain)

6. Permit is not an issue
This happened at home. The gun could just as easily been a hammer and a hose on the tailpipe of the family car in the garage, and the result would have been the same - 4 dead people.

Yet another weak Mike attempt to blame an object for the actions of people. It isn't a magic talisman. Owning a gun won't make you go crazy and kill people, because if that were true, I should have gone crazy and murdered people a long time ago. My guns must be defective.

7. A permit holder from Contra Costa County?
Mikey, that's highly unlikely....but you keep on constructing those strawmen at which to tilt in quixotic crusade.
