WISCONSIN: Castle Law signed into law on Wednesday.
http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=7192

Thursday, December 08, 2011

Yesterday, Governor Scott Walker signed into law important self-defense legislation for the citizens of Wisconsin. Commonly known as the “Castle Doctrine,” Assembly Bill 69 will provide essential protections for law-abiding citizens who defend themselves and their families from a criminal looking to do them harm. This new law took effect immediately.

“Castle Doctrine” establishes the presumption that an individual who forcibly enters one’s home, business or occupied motor vehicle is there to cause death or great bodily harm, and allows the use of force, including deadly force, against that person. This bill also eliminates any “duty to retreat” so that law-abiding citizens no longer must turn their back on a criminal and try to run when attacked.

Finally, AB 69 provides that any person who uses force, authorized by law, shall not be prosecuted for using such force and also prohibits criminals and their families from suing victims for injuring or killing the criminals who have attacked them. In short, it restores rights to law-abiding people and forces judges and prosecutors to focus on protecting victims.

Another win for RKBA and self-defense rights.

4. Maybe you need to realize...
many of us support the entire Constitution - not just the parts we like.

6. My Civics course was long ago, but I am pretty sure the Castle Doctrine is not
part of the Constitution. Maybe my teacher was a Black Panther.

By supporting Walker, you are supporting his entire agenda, and by voting for his reading of the constitution, you are supporting union-busting, dismantling of public education, and all of the rest.

9. but it is part of the Enlightenment
How is this supporting Walker? He simply signed it. What does it have to do with union busting etc.
Using your same logic, supporting California's ban 1967 ban on (loaded) open carry also means you support supply side economics.

13. The right to keep and bear arms
Is most assuredly part of the Constitution.

The right to defend your life is also part of the Constitution.

I have no idea who your teacher was, but if he didn't make you aware of those facts, find a new one.

I don't believe anyone has claimed support of Walker or his agenda. However, agreeing with laws passed by a state legislature, regardless of the political party of the governor, which support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, is NOT a bad thing. Criticizing such laws because they were signed by a Republican is, at best, small minded and stupid.

Supporting one bill that he signed does not mean that we support everything else that he does.

12. The only blatant support for Walker here is by a gun control supporters.
Walker banned the carry of concealed weapons in certain government facilities and your gun control supporting friends were applauding his actions.

It's almost as embarrassing for gun control as all the people that suddenly support phony the Bush/Cheney "Terrah" Watch list. As soon as Lautenberg and friends suggested using it to ban the sale of firearms it became a big item with gun control people here. All of a sudden Cheney's list was a big hit with the pro control people.

14. Whoa. Some guns are banned in a few governmetn facilities?
sounds like we're within a week of total prohibition! Next you won't be able to carry one in court, or a police station! Where will it end??

And even a cursory reading of this thread contradicts your bizarre assertion that the Walker Fan Club consists of gun control advocates.

All of the single-issue voters on the fringe are able to selectively read the laws to support their position, regardless of how far it is from the mainstream. Anti-choice fanatics think they're saving the lives of babies. Same with stem cell protectors. Anti-gay people have memorized Leviticus. strict anti-tax folks have been convinced that it is illegal for the government to collect any taxes at all. And the NRA membership has come to believe that if you can't fire a 50-cal at someone who sets foot on your property, you might as well be in the USSR.

It is your right to vote for whomever you want, but supporting Walker is supporting his entire agenda, and when you vote for a gun zealot, you are also voting for, in 99% of the cases, an anti-union, anti-public sector, anti-woman, anti-education war monger.

15. hyperbole
Actually anti-gay folks memorize one line of Leviticus.
I doubt anyone here support Walker or voted for him.
I doubt Walker is a gun zealot, he simply a sock puppet who knows where his bread is being buttered. Take Rudy Giuliani for example. He was for basing federal law on NYC, until he decided to run for national office. If the Kochs tell him to change his mind, he will change his mind (before the 1960s, the local and state laws were written by conservative for their purposes. It had nothing to do with "making a more civilized society") I doubt Walker knows anything about guns.
99 percent? Only in the past ten years at most and even then I doubt it is anything like that.

19. Then
the Democrats shouldn't have handed the issue to the Republicans on a silver platter.

Liberals (non authoritarians) are supposed to think for themselves.

"WE'RE NOT THEM" is foolish politics and blind acceptance of any ideology is, well, stupid.

21. Cool, another graduate of the Jpak school of conditional ethics!
You join a small but undistinguished group of gun control supporters that is willing to set aside any principles to support anyone, even Repugs like Walker and Bloomberg, that offer any suggestion of additional gun control. There was a thread here just a couple weeks ago that applauded Walker for banning CCW in some offices. The same as folks that support the Cheney Terrah watch list.

Nice people you hang out with. Stupid and dishonest, but probably nice to small animals.
