Anybody in N. Illinois want to form a Democratic Gun Club?

I am thinking it would be a really good time for blue-state Democrats to improve their accuracy, safety, and firing discipline.

1. How many hoops do you have to jump through to even own one?

I heard that the Grand American Trap event was thinking of moving to Illinois, before they realized all the kooky laws. Don't you have to get permission from the state to even own one or buy ammo? How does it work? Good luck on getting some of our folks together. If I was out there, I'd join you.

2. No, you just need to own a FOID card.

Some of the municipalities under "home rule" provisions have gun bans of various strengths.

3. Tell me about the FOID.

I've heard it stands for Firearms Owners ID card. Still seems like needing .gov permission to buy or own. Some of your Illinois cities (mostly Chicagoland) have absolutely nutty laws. I have a few relatives by marriage up that way. I think I have one in Moline, another in Prophetstown, and a cousin-in-law in Naperville.

I abhor the government list of gun owners and the fact that cities can ban. Maybe it isn't a big deal to you because you've never lived under another system? Or have you?
