Palestinians in Israeli jails call for release of Israeli taxi driver

Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails released a statement calling for release of Israeli taxi driver Eliyahu Goral, 61, has been missing since late Friday.

The statement "confirms the prisoners' belief that such actions (as kidnapping) only hurt the issue of releasing prisoners," and also "confirms the firm commitment that prisoners have to abiding by the cease-fire agreement," Palestinian Minister for Prisoner Affairs Hisham Abdal Raziq said.

1. His rescue this morning

The rescure of Eliyahu Goral was by top Israeli commandoes, who were not given any directions from any PA group. It may in fact have been individuals who are unaffiliated with a known terror group who kidnapped him. They were hoping to bargain for his release in order to free Palestinians being held in Israel.

The overall IDF commader in the West Bank Wednesday crowned as a success the midnight rescue of kidnapped cab driver Eliyahu Gurel by IDF commandos near the West Bank city of Ramallah, but questions remained as to the motives and background of the kidnappers.
