3 killed in suicide bombing in Dimona
Jerusalem Post

Three people were killed and ten were wounded, one critically, one moderately and eight lightly, in a suicide attack in a Dimona commercial center.

Police said the attack was a suicide bombing carried by two attackers, but only one succeeded in detonating his explosives. The other terrorist was killed by a police officer from an elite unit who happened to be on the scene, seconds before he could explode himself. It was unclear whether the death count included the terrorists. Magen David Adom ambulances were treating several more wounded on the secene.

Rosa Elberg, a resident of the town said that the bomber detonated his explosives inside a café. "It is like a war, people are running like crazy," she told Channel 2. "I didn't see anyone suspicious. I heard a boom and my ears are still ringing."

...snip...

Southern Israel has been on alert against terror attacks since the Gaza Strip's Hamas rulers breached the border with Egypt on January 23. The breach made the Negev, where Dimona is located, more vulnerable to penetration by Palestinian terrorists who could enter through the Sinai.

Isn't it simply wonderful that the border was blown wide open in southern Gaza? :sarcasm:

In the time that the border was strictly controlled there were no suicide bombings coming in from Gaza. But then the border control is blown and see what happens? Almost immediately there is a suicide bombing. Could have been two but apparently one of them did not go off.

Can someone please tell me why Israel should open up the border between itself and Gaza? Is the answer so more of these attacks can happen?

Unfortunately there are too many terror groups based in Gaza to allow an open border. Until the elected Palestinian government, be it Hamas or Fatah, actually takes serious measures to round up and arrest the terrorists, (and actually brings them to trial instead of just releasing them a few days later), the borders between Israel and Gaza must remain tightly controlled.

I seriously doubt that either will do anything, with Fatah corrupt and weak and Hamas wanting to destroy Israel.

Hard to have a long lasting peace when you have no peace partner.

Israel needs to unilaterally pull out of most of the west bank (except for Jerusalem) and have a secure border. Until the Palestinians have a government that is willing and able to negotiate a peace with Israel there will be problems.

Israel is not without blame as their government is allowing settlements to continue in the West Bank. But it should do the right thing (unilaterally if necessary) and pull out of the west bank.

2. Sweets in celebration
Those peace-loving Gazans were handing out sweets in celebration at the loss of human (Israeli) life.

3. Great!
And Israel should offer food, fuel and aid to these people?

You do not see Israeli's dancing in the street and handing out sweets when Palestinians are killed by the IDF.

This is disgusting (but not unexpected).
