I have never posted in this forum before...or even read any threads..
but I am currently reading the book "Victory for us is to see you Suffer". I am about halfway through the book and wonder what your opinions of it are. I admit that I am not very educated about the Israel/Palestine conflict beyond what I get on the MSN, but I heard the author on NPR and thought the book sounded interesting. After hearing about suicide bombers for so many years it is interesting to read something that has a Palestinian view.
3. It's written by a man who was a driver for UNRWA (United Nations relief and Works
Agency). He writes about the multiple checkpoints he (and Palestinians) have to go through daily, Israeli soldiers at those checkpoints, suicide bombers etc. I have a general interest in humanitarian work, that's what drew me to the book.

I'm not familiar with that book, but it sounds interesting. I've just been working on trying to educate myself about the situation. Just finished reading "Lords of the Land" about the history of the settlements, and have now started reading "Accidental Empire" which is about the 1st 10 years of the settlements.
but I do know...from living in the Middle East that we have a completely lopsided view of the Israel/Palestine conflict. The conditions and humiliations the Palestinians face on a daily basis would make a suicide bomber out of lots of people. The US news takes the Israeli side and only shows what the poor Israelis face. All the time, Palestinians...who still have the keys to the homes they once lived in...live in horrible camps and are forced to go through many roadblocks just to get anything done. Now they are building that horrible wall..and the people are being separated from their orchards.
