VIDEO - East Jerusalem residents said Friday that the terrorist who killed eight students at the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem on Thursday had worked as a driver at the seminary.

Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the gunman was from Jabel Mukaber, a neighborhood in east Jerusalem, where Palestinian residents hold Israeli ID cards that give them freedom of movement in Israel. The man worked as a driver, Rosenfeld said, but would not provide further details.

The names of the casualties were cleared for publication Friday. The murdered were identified as Yohai Lifshitz, 18, of Jerusalem; Yehonatan Yitzhak Alder, 16, of Shilo; Yonadav Haim Hirshfeld, 19, of Kochav Hashahar; Neria Cohen, 15, of Jerusalem; Roy Rot, 18, of Elkana; Segev Peniel Avihail, 15, of Neveh Daniel; Avraham David Mozes, 16, of Efrat; and Doron Mahareta, 26, of Ashdod.

4. Baruch Goldstein was condemned and denounced as a terrorist by the Israeli government

The Palestinian who committed these murders in Jerusalem is being celebrated and hailed as a hero by the Hamas leadership.

After the attack by Goldstein, the Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, said "We say to this horrible man and those like him: you are a shame on Zionism and an embarrassment to Judaism."

The head of the more conservative Likud party, Benjamin Netanyahu, said, "This was a despicable crime. I express my unequivocal condemnation."

After Wednesday's attack in Jerusalem, Hamas issues this statement, "We bless the operation. It will not be the last."

According to reports from the AP today, Hamas will claim responsibility for the attack shortly.

"Hamas is responsible for the attack. The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades will officially claim the attack at the right moment"

Baruch Goldstein is despised and reviled by the vast majority of Israelis who view him as a terrorist and an embarrasment not only to Israelis but also to Jews.

Hopefully the vast majority of Palestinians will view the person who committed these murders in Jerusalem with the same contempt and disgust.

In any other place they would destroy it." Itzik replied "it is not a legal question at all. We must demolish the tent and the house."
