Can Israelis cook Chinese better than the Chinese?

"We feel an Israeli can hold a wok as well as a Thai or Chinese person," said Israel Trade Ministry lawyer Shoshana Strauss to the Associated Press. She also reportedly suggested that "everyone can make Chinese food" and that it is a skill not impossible to learn.

With over 7 million people in Israel, why can't they take in about 900 Asian chefs?

are from Central America, I'd say yes, it is entirely possible to learn to cook a cuisine that isn't from one's own ethnicity and to do it superlatively.

4. My wife is Chinese and having had the opportunity to actually have authentic Chinese food in China,

I just want to say that authentic Chinese food is wonderful and that there is much of it that is not actually cooked in a wok. Chinese food consists of so many styles, regional tastes, and ingredients. Much authentic Chinese food is quite healthy unlike the "fast food variety" widely available here in the United States. Many people in the U.S. think of Chinese food simply as the stuff that one can find in the mall or at various Chinese take out restaurants. This is like saying that McDonalds and KFC are representative of authentic American food. By the way, both KFC and McDonalds are quite popular in the large Chinese cities.

You might want to pay a tiny bit more attention to the growing Chinese presence in Egypt and Africa. Because the Chinese are untainted by the Crusades as the western nations are. When we are broken and exhausted and finally completely destroyed by this insane war, guess who is being carefully positioned to become the beloved honest broker and walk away with all that oil without firing a shot?

But you spend your time worrying about the Chinese cooks. That's a BIG issue.

PS: Ever ordered Chinese food in Ireland? Ever got all huffy because the waiters ain't Chinese? Didn't think so.

can make any type of cuisine. But often what happens is that the food becomes westernized, or adjusted to the point where it's unrecognizable.

When I was in Italy the difference between the food there and what we get dished up as Italian food here is markedly different. Italians tend to cook their food in a much more understated way when it comes to flavour than what's done here.

I had pizza in Italy. Not at all the same thing thats served up by any US pizza franchise. Other dishes, such as chicken salad, you would not even recognize since you would expect to see a ton of mayonaise to be mixed in with it on the plate.
