David Horowitz is at it again. Jimmy carter is really torking him off and helping to raise funds

For some reason I get these emails from Horowitz' organization asking for money all the time. I don't unsubscribe, though, because he's so damn entertaining:

This is his latest tirade:

"The former President and ongoing national embarrassment is preparing to meet with Khaled Meshal, the exiled head of the Palestinian terror group Hamas next week . . . Carter has made a special mission during his former presidency in apologizing for the Palestinians and acting as judge and jury of Israel. . . Jimmy Carter's meeting with Meshal and attempt to confer legitimacy on Hamas is appalling and must be condemned."

I hope he's also going to go after Former Shin Bet/General Security Services Chief Ya'akov Perry and Israel's Minister of Transportation, former IDF Chief of Staff Likudnik Shaul Mofaz and former Mossad Chief Efraim Halevy who all apparently think the current Israeli policy of holding 1.5 million Palestinians in the outdoor prison of Gaza isn't working out too well.

Tough Dove Israel reports:

"In a new interview, former Mossad Chief Efraim Halevy (a Sharon appointee) makes the case once again for the view that Israel's current policy towards Hamas and the PA is failing and should be replaced by a more realistic strategy.

Halevy: "Israel has been successful in inflicting very serious losses upon Hamas in both Gaza and the West Bank and this has certainly had an effect on Hamas, who are now trying to get a 'cease fire.' But this has not cowed them into submission and into accepting the three-point diktat that the international community has presented to them: to recognize Israel's right to exist; to honor all previous commitments of the Palestinian Authority; and to prevent all acts of violence against Israel and Israelis. The last two conditions are, without doubt, sine qua non. The first demands an a priori renunciation of ideology before contact is made. Such a demand has never been made before either to an Arab state or to the Palestinian Liberation Organization/Fatah. There is logic in the Hamas' position that ideological 'conversion' is the endgame and not the first move in a negotiation."

I'm thinking talking to Hamas through a third party as Halevy proposes couldn't hurt. It's worth a try. If the US can talk to Kim Jung il, a man who starved two million of his own people to death and has threatened his neighbors with nuclear destruction, then Israel should be able to talk to Hamas.
