Israel to resume fuel shipments to Gaza

Israel says it will resume some crucial fuel shipments to the Gaza Strip.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak's office says shipments of cooking gas and fuel for Gaza's only power plant will resume Wednesday. No gasoline for cars will be transferred.

Monday's announcement follows a weeklong cutoff imposed after Palestinian militants attacked an Israeli fuel depot. Two workers died in the attack.

Officials in Hamas-controlled Gaza have warned that fuel supplies are running dangerously low.

Why can't they supply fuel to the Gazans, instead of Israel, which Hamas, the government of Gaza, has sworn to annihilate?

Let the other Arab nations step up. Egypt refuses, of course, and hides behind their newly erected ten foot concrete wall. They don't want to deal with the mess in Gaza either.

6. Israel sends fuel to Gaza power plant after attack

GAZA, April 16 (Reuters) - Israel allowed European-funded fuel into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday to keep its only power plant operational, hours after Palestinian gunmen killed three Israeli soldiers near the border pipeline.

Five Palestinians, at least four of them Hamas militants, were also killed in a separate incidents that included an air strike on a car in the northern Gaza Strip.

"The fuel has started to go through," said the European Union official, referring to the Nahal Oz terminal, close to the scene of fighting in which the three soldiers were killed -- the army's highest single-day death toll in the Gaza Strip in months.

Palestinian officials confirmed that pumping had begun.

Notice that Israel is not paying for the fuel. It is just allowing it to pass into Gaza, unlike President Carter.
