Clinton: If Iran attacks Israel, US could 'obliterate it'
Democratic presidential candidate tells ABC that as president she would order counterstrike against Iran if Islamic republic launches nuclear attack on Israel

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3534481,00.html

<snip>

"Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said that if Iran attacks Israel with nuclear weapons, the US will respond with an attack.

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said in an interview to ABC TV network's Good Morning America, to be aired on Tuesday. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

Clinton's statements come hours before polls for the democratic primaries open in Pennsylvania. Favored to win Tuesday's contest, Clinton needs a big victory margin to boost her chances of catching Obama in the Democratic race and to head off renewed calls to end her candidacy."

1. My what a safe statement.
Wait. If Iran launches a nuclear attack on Israel, are there people here who would applaud it as a good idea?

They ain't. We ain't. Stop panicking, ninnies.

5. I think you underestimate way to many here.
Many here and everywhere would be ok with it.

History tells us so.

11. Some people say there is no difference between Dems and Reps
On domestic issues I don't always find that statement to be correct.

But on matters of foreign policy - the differences really are minor.

13. Most people realize there are legitimate foreign threats
the question is what to do about them, aside from becoming isolationists, which isn't really foreign policy in the 21st century.

14. Most people don't want endless war and conflict
Thank God for the few progressive leaders that recognize that and try to do something other than push for more war and more confrontation.

3. I saw excerpts last night. Hillary was in "full militarist mode"
She committed America as if we were in a full defense treaty like NATO. An attack on any member is considered a response on all of the members of the organization. "Me no like."

4. She's supporting a full defense treaty for the region
A sort of de facto METO (Mid East Treaty Org). It's a bizarre concoction in an incredibly unstable region we're making even more unstable with each passing day. I'm with you on no likey!

7. Iran contributes to a good deal of the instability in the region
(although there is plenty of factional instability).

Iran with nukes is a disaster in the making.

No one wants to make war with Iran, but if they follow through on their threats to Israel, they will be attacked, no question.

ANY American president will protect Israel.

What a demented loon.

12. I assume that this would be the policy of any president not named Pat Buchanan
Not sure why this is at all shocking.
