Egypt lashes out at Iran for Gaza support
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has reportedly accused the Islamic Republic of trying to control Arab countries in the region.

Mubarak said Thursday that Iran's vocal criticism of Egyptian indifference to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip shows that Tehran intends to control its Arab neighbors.

"The Persians are trying to devour the Arab states," Kuwaiti daily al-Jarida quoted him as saying in a meeting with members of the Egyptian ruling party.

His criticism came in the wake of Monday demonstrations by Iranian students over Egypt's refusal to open the Rafah border crossing for humanitarian convoys to deliver food, medical equipment and other essential supplies to the strip.

1. What a long way we have come in these recent 30 years
The enemy of my enemy is my friend seems to be the way of peace in the middle east, rather tragic all in all.

3. If you want to play real politks the Soviet Union did just about the same thing.
But it really doesn't matter, if you're seeking to shatter my belief that the holocaust was ever avenged you're fighting a battle that was already won long ago.

4. Could the Holocaust ever be avenged?
Sorry it was the first thing that came to mind, had a conversion about this operation quite recently so no I was not trying to shatter any belief.
BTW there is no avenging the Holocaust, organized, state sponsored murder on that scale can not ever be avenged.

5. The population transfers of germans from poland, russia and the destruction of prussia were a start

Germany payed very heavily for it's equally heavy handed tactics governance in eastern europe during it's time of domination. Eastern europe used to be heavily populated in many areas with german settlers, most of which ended up being uprooted and sent packing at the end of world war 2.

Danzig for instance was basically stripped of it's 99% german population and repopulated entirely with poles. It's estimated that at least a million germans died during these population transfers (many of them were civilians who trailed the warmacht and thus starved with the soldiers on the long walk back to berlin).

Germany has never been smaller since bismark united it, the german people payed. Most high level nazi's also payed with their lives, it was the middle men who ran the day to day operations of the holocaust that suffered the least of all responsible parties.

Althought one could argue such a backlash was inevitable, local german populations assisted the nazi's wholesale and collaborated whenever possible according to most accounts.
The germans bought suffering and pain to any areas that occupied, Belarus lost almost 50% of it's population to german slaughter. Take the attitude displayed toward jews during the holocaust and apply it on a macro population level, thats how the germans killed millions of civilians in eastern europe, Not just jews.

6. I am aware of the German cruelty
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 11:28 AM by azurnoir
the former Soviet Union as I understand ha to this day not recovered population wise and as for the Holocaust that was not just Jews Jews comprised the majority of victims but the total was 11 million of which 6 million were Jews, the others were Sinti, Slavs of any sort, gays and communists to name some when it comes to being avenged however I just do not think such a term applies here, maybe it doesn't anywhere.
