NU's Katz reminds Emanuel he's Jewish
National Union chairman Ya'acov "Ketzele" Katz sent a letter to White House chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel last week admonishing him not to forget his Jewish and Israeli origins.

Katz claims that in a private meeting with the unnamed leader, Emanuel said, "In the next four years, there will be a peace agreement with the Palestinians on the basis of two states for two peoples, and it does not matter to us who is the prime minister."

In the letter, a Hebrew version of which was provided to The Jerusalem Post by Katz's parliamentary aide, Katz wrote: "For many Israelis, this report is a cause for worry because it reveals a condescending attitude toward our prime minister and Israeli public opinion. This is an attitude that Israel does not expect from a real friend such as the US, and all the more so from an Israeli Jew who has succeeded in being appointed White House chief-of-staff."

1. So part of being "Jewish" means kissing Bibi's ring?
What if Emmanuel thinks the two-state solution is best for Israel? Is he not entitled to his own opinion?

4. Just like Rome. If you're Catholic you're supposed to kiss the Pope's ring?
I don't think so. Ratz is too far out for me.

15. apparently
Katz believes that Emmanuel is not loyal to his BOSS, Barack Obama. If he has an issue with Emmanuel, take it up with his BOSS, Barack Obama. I'd rather have two separate states then the Israelis continuing to slaughter the Palestinian people.

2. From what I've heard of Emanuel, Katz should be careful if he doesn't want a rotten fish airmailed
to him.

And if Katz thinks all Israelis, let alone Jews, support National Union policies, he's got another think coming.

7. And good for Rahm--he should fedex that fish!
Who's this asshole to tell him how to prosecute the agenda established by his boss? Rahm works for Barack, not Bibi.

5. What is the dividing line here for what Israeli Knesset members expect of Emanuel?
"Katz went on to compare Emanuel to the biblical Esther, who ended up at using her influence with Persian King Ahashverosh to intervene on behalf of the Jews of the Persian Empire.

"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" Katz wrote, quoting from the Book of Esther (4:14).

Katz was hinting that Emanuel should use his influence to protect Israeli interests, which, he believes, are best served by preventing the creation of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

-cut-

In November, Emanuel said US President Barack Obama did not need his influence to "orientate his policy toward Israel." "

It is unfair to ask any believer to bear the weight of Esther on his shoulders. He can strive to be the best he can be, but why would this leader ask Emanuel to not put American interests first?

11. So Katz believes that Israeli interests are best served by preventing peace?
The man DOES realize that the war can't end WITHOUT the creation of a Palestinian state, doesn't he?

8. Call me a dumbass
If you draw a diagonal line from just north of Tel Aviv down to the Dead Sea it would pass halfway between Jerusalem and Ramallah. Make the north of this line Palestine and the south Israel. Build a wall and call it a day. That way both of them have a Mediterranean coast and a Dead Sea coast. No doubt this will cause some horrible debate about holy cities. The answer to that comes from Solomon- he who complains has his holy city bulldozed. If you truly believe that Jerusalem is holy, then save it by giving it away. Jesus, it's not like every freaking backwater in the region isn't the "Holy City of..." to somebody.

10. Well a bit heavy handed
But it fell into the category of "Of I were the magical and all powerful ruler of Earth, I would do this."

unique way.
