US: Woman yells 'Heil, Hitler' at Israeli
Health care debate in United States heats up as television crews capture confrontation between American-Israeli in support of Obama's reform and a right-wing woman opposed to it. The woman, dressed in an IDF shirt, shouts Nazi slogan at man during town hall discussion. In another incident, Jewish Congressman Barney Frank confronts woman carrying sign showing Obama with a Hitler-style moustache

<snip>

"Efforts made by President Barack Obama to promote a health reform bill have sparked debates across the country. Yet, two particularly jolting responses to the bill were registered on Wednesday. In one incident a woman yelled out "Heil, Hitler" to an Israeli-American supporting Obama's universalized health care initiative. In another, Jewish Congressman Barney Frank confronted a woman waving posters comparing Obama to Hitler.

The public debate in the United States on health care has prompted some in opposition to Obama's initiative to evoke the image of Adolf Hitler, use of swastikas, and no small amount of anti-Semitism."

<snip>

"This phenomenon led to a televised confrontation between Jewish Congressman Barney Frank from Massachusetts and a woman carrying one of these posters. During a town hall meeting held by Frank, the woman asked why Obama supports Nazi policy. The congressman, who is currently serving as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and one of congressman pushing for reform of the health care system, was shocked by the poster and the woman's outburst.

"When you ask me that question, I’m going to revert to my ethnic heritage and ask you a question: On what planet do you spend most of your time?" countered Frank."

<snip>

"Public debate on health reform brought jeering Nazi remarks on the west coast of the country. During a meeting in Las Vegas that was captured on camera and uploaded to Youtube, a dramatic confrontation took place between an Israeli-American who supports Obama's reform and a radical woman in opposition to it.

The man tried to explain to reporters that the health care reform is essential for Americans. To this end, he brought up health care services in Israel and explained that it is a relatively successful system. All of a sudden, a woman wearing a green IDF jersey butted in and yelled towards the man, "Heil, Hitler.

Apparently, the woman is a staunch supporter of Israel. She was angered by the Israeli for supporting Obama's health care reform, which, in her eyes, is akin to the Nazi policies of Adolf Hitler."

1. She's a staunch supporter alright
As long as she's 5,000 miles away from where all the shooting is taking place.

3. This is all originating with the venom being pumped out
by Jonah Goldberg, the repellent little worm who sprang from Lucianne's loins.

Anybody who repeats this stuff is not only as repellent, but is stupid to boot.

They deserve no respect whatsoever.

11. One version of it has
that the woman that was at Frank's rally was a Larouchite.

The Larouchites don't need Goldberg, they have their own rather large venom reserves. In fact, Goldberg, if Wiki's correct, is 10 years my junior. I was 18 when I first ran into Larouchite insanity, and by that reckoning, Goldberg was 8. They seemed well established at the time. I have no idea if Goldberg's mother had an influence on Lyndon and his followers.

I've never considered Larouchites to be particularly repub. I'm not sure that I've considered them to be Democrats, either, to be honest. Depends how big the dem tent is.

6. In their own little happy, delusional world.
:crazy: The world could be falling in around them, but doggone it, they had a white, conservative president, so all was right with the world.:sarcasm:

7. It doesn't get much lower than comparing an Israeli to the Nazis
The anti-semitism on display here is disgusting.

Thank you for posting this.

12. And yet, it happens.
Unfortunately.

If not by name, then they "merely" attribute some of the harshest attributes of Nazis to Israelis, by implication.

13. And people should express their disgust when it does happen
No one should be able to get away without that sort of hateful commentary being challenged.

9. Samuel Blum told the truth about health care in Israel
The events took place in Las Vegas at a health reform town meeting.

Samuel Blum was telling a reporter about health care in Israel when Pamela Pilger, a self-described conservative wearing an Israel Defence Forces T-shirt (in English no less), shouts "Heil Hitler" to Blum.

Here is Blum:

Here is Pilger's interview:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcRr5xA-K80&feature=channel

Pilger's husband has to hold 3 jobs just to make ends meet, has no insurance of his own, and here she is at a health reform town meeting in Las Vegas opposing universal health care and defending capitalism? What a dunce!

Pamela Pilger is one of these Israel-loving fundamentalist Christians. They need Israel, but not Jews, so that Jesus can crash land his UFO near the Mount of Olives for his glorious, and much delayed Second Coming. I don't believe Jesus needs a visa to enter Israel since he was born there.

14. Right-wing nuts are charming, aren't they?

As I understand it, her type's 'staunch support for Israel' really means 'staunch support for Armageddon', and co-exists quite readily with antisemitism.

Interestingly, a couple of years ago, I commented during a discussion of Dan Pipes who had attacked 'defamers of Israel' and who at the same time supported Mark Steyn's attacks on Europe's welfare states:

'And one REALLY ironic thing here is that by defaming Europe in these ways, he himself is *also*, by implication, defaming Israel! For Israel, whatever else one may say for or against it, resembles the Europaean countries in being a predominantly secular country with a progressive welfare state.'

I suppose this ranting woman takes this sort of attitude to extremes.
