Two years ago, a Palestinian doctor lost three of his eight children when Israeli shells fell on his home in Gaza during the Israeli offensive against Hamas.
Dr Izzeldin Abuelaish's anguish was broadcast live on Israeli TV as he - in fluent Hebrew - relayed the unfolding tragedy to a broadcaster friend.
Yet he said he was not bitter and could not hate. But he does want an apology and for Israel to take responsibility.
Following an inquiry, Israeli defence forces said that they regretted the loss of life and that the death of Dr Abuelaish's daughters was accidental.

The refusal to apologize is bad in a moral sense, but it's not just bad. It also seems to be stupid. What does the government of Israel hope to gain by refusing to apologize?
