Israeli-Palestinian conflict sees a decline in death toll
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/7535703.htm

<snip>

"JERUSALEM - The death toll in the third year of Israeli-Palestinian violence fell to about half the previous year's, mainly due to fewer Palestinian attacks and Israeli military strikes, according to an Associated Press count. Suicide bombings also dropped by about half.

Violence continues to claim lives, children and teenager being among the most vulnerable, and the reasons for the drop are disputed.

Palestinians cited hopes over the past year for an end to the violence, while Israeli analysts credited the construction of a massive fence complex in the West Bank and other security measures that have severely disrupted Palestinian daily life.

In total, 2,583 people have died on the Palestinian side and 898 on the Israeli side from the fighting that began Sept. 28, 2000. The figures are based on AP reporting, including interviews with doctors, relatives and witnesses, visits to hospitals and statements from security forces."

1. The Peace Fence is saving lives on both sides
It has brought hope where none had existed before.

8. yeah
we're up to over 90 dead Palestinians since the last suicide attack (mostly civilians, some children), with the homes still being destroyed, but let's just look the other way from that and give praise to the Peace Fence. Hallelujah for the Peace Fence, just keep sending the Peace Bulldozers and keep raining Peace Bullets down on Palestinian civilians

3. Does anyone know how many Palestinians were killed in Gaza?
I'm not sure if a fence that's not taking Palestinian territory would be described as a *Peace Fence* by some, but I'm curious to know how many Palestinians have died in Gaza from all those Peace Bullets and Peace Missiles since the fence there was constructed. While the article said that no suicide bombers had come from Gaza and credited that fence for it, there was no mention of how many Palestinians had died. If Palestinians in Gaza are still being killed and have little to no hope, I fail to see how constructing a barrier deep into the West Bank would instill any hope at all in West Bank Palestinians or have them thinking that they won't continue to be killed. Then again, maybe the word 'peace' only applies to a peaceful existence for Israelis and it doesn't matter at what cost it comes for Palestinians...

Violet...

4. I guess the term "peace" really does
only imply to Israeli's. What happens to Palestinians does not concern some...

6. The Peace Fence provides peace to those who want it
On both sides. But if Palestinian terrorists continue to fight the terror war, Israel will take action against them. Lord knows, the PA won't.

Meanwhile, separating the two groups seems to be paying off.

7. And of course
If Israeli terrorists continue to fight their terror war, the U.S. will send more money to help murder civilians and peace workers.

16. That any armed Palestinian that shoots
at the IDF is a terrorist. Or do you consider attacking the IDF legitimate? Which is it?

19. Depends on the circumstances
If you are actively trying to defend terrorists, that is a terror act. If you simply are unhappy with the situation and choose to organize a resistance that disavows terror, then that is NOT a terror group.

17. As for ISM
It appears that they have a Visa problem. Israel won't let them in through Ben Gurion point of entry. It was nice that they were given a fair chance, however.

11. I think it's like cheering for your side in a football game.
Or something like that. A morale booster or something.
Faith based political discourse.

I was thinking we could call it the "Piece fence" because it
grabs another piece of land. I do like puns.

5. I think every one has make their point.
Their is hardly a person going into the country to visit and most of the busnesses are shut and every one or most are hiding some place. They seemed to have killed each other off.No one has won.

12. tourism
The level of tourism to Israel has increased considerably this year (or the last half of it).

The Tourism Ministry's figures also indicate a measure of recovery, beginning in the past year, with tourism from the United States, in general, and also among Jewish tourism. The first nine months of this year enjoyed a 24 percent improvement over the parallel period last year.

Wow. You haven't been to Israel lately, have you? The businesses are open. People are living their lives.
