Extremists dedicate Kahane seminary in illegal outpost
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 10:07 PM by Resistance
Haaretz (AP)

Right-wing extremists on Sunday held a gala ceremony at an illegal outpost, underlining conflicting pressures on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon - his obligation to remove the tiny settlements despite stiff opposition from his own supporters.

The government recently paved a road leading up to the outpost, established by followers of the late U.S.-born Rabbi Meir Kahane, who pushed for the expulsion of Arabs from Israel and the West Bank and was assassinated in New York in 1990.

At nightfall Sunday, hundreds marched to the outpost, which consists of three buildings, carrying banners of the banned Kach movement and signs reading "Kahane was right." Some set off fireworks.

Small children waving flaming torches in the darkness shouted, "Expel the Arabs!"

2. so
Right-wing racist freaks are celebrating the roads they get to their outposts.

Left-wing peace activists are suffering the casualties and wounds they get from IDF gun-fire.

Great job, Ariel Sharon.

PM orders Mofaz to remove Kach outpost
By YAAKOV KATZ

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz on Sunday to immediately evacuate the illegal outpost of Kfar Tapuah West.

A seminary perpetuating the teachings of Rabbi Meir Kahane, the former Kach leader murdered by an Egyptian national in New York's Marriot East Hotel in 1990, is under construction in the illegal outpost of Kfar Tapuah West near Ariel, Channel Two News reported Thursday.

Justice Miniser Yosef Lapid (Shinui) said on Friday that he intends to raise the issue of reports that the government funded a road leading to an illegal West Bank outpost run by followers of Meir Kahane.

"The country needs to order the army to demolish the building before it turns into a center for studying Kahane's fascist teachings," Lapid said.

4. Perhaps I am being over cynical here
But it strikes me that the more fuss the loony right-wing make the better for Sharon, because it makes it look like he's doing something real, heroically in the face of stiff opposition.

And what are we talking about here, probably 3 tents and a decrepid caravan as the sum total for all four of the illegal settlements.

I make a guess that Sharon goes to these guys beforehand and says "look, we are on one of our propaganda drives and we are doing the 'closing of the illegal outposts' routine again, it's been a while since we done that one, so could you do your usual stuff please."
