UN Agency Launches $18 Million Appeal for Palestinians
UN Agency Launches $18 Million Appeal for Palestinians Affected by Israeli Wall

GENEVA - The United Nations development agency has called for immediate action to address the needs of Palestinian communities affected by Israels Separation Wall, launching an appeal for $18 million in emergency assistance to address job needs and improve vital social, municipal and agricultural infrastructure requirements.

The proposals, by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian people, seek to generate over 200,000 employment opportunities and includes land reclamation projects, new agricultural roads and improved water infrastructure. They also aim to revamp health care and education and build the capacity of the municipalities and village councils.

******

The impact on agriculture is of particular concern in the governorates of Jenin, Tulkarm and Qalqilya, where the first phase is being constructed. The wall could severely constrain the delivery of basic social services and commercial exchange, especially the movements of agricultural products, Palestinian officials have said.

Meanwhile, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) today warmly welcomed news that the United States will pledge up to $26 million for that agencys current emergency appeal, the largest single donation by any Government to UNRWA emergency appeals since they were launched three years ago.

"the United States will pledge up to $26 million for that agencys current emergency appeal, the largest single donation by any Government to UNRWA emergency appeals since they were launched three years ago."

did you see that newyorican??
and you were outraged over paying for the wall...

this must REALLY piss you off.

I , for one , hopes it goes into helping people..
and not go into arafats wallet...or his swiss bank
account.

imagine what that $ 300,000,000 arafat stole could
have done to help his people.

I know you won't even remember ever seeing this but The Palestinian Authority offered up all it's books after Forbes (great source) made it's accusations

Also if I was the PA I wouldn't be trying to play beat the bank with that check the US is going to send, I'd almost be willing to bet you $26 million it never gets cut at all.

"-- In a bid to dispel charges of widespread corruption, the top Palestinian financial official Friday said the Palestinian Authority had no secret accounts and had not funneled money to groups accused of terrorism."

ok...the palestinian financial official SAYS the guy
who hired me and pays my salary is not a crook or
a terrorist.

that doesnt even pass the laugh test.

receipts and everything.

He didn't "say" anything, and Israel declined to even look at them which speaks volumes about how serious that whole story was.

5. Nah, I didn't see it. I just posted it.

Just because anyone helping the Palestinians "REALLY" pisses you off, don't assume others are in need of anger management therapy. But I'm not surprised you cannot see the differrence between helping people survive with annexing lands, you've set a new bar on low expectations of comprehension. I hope I used small enough words for you to understand me this time.

Just like clockwork, any mention of the UN, Arafat or *gasp* a Nobel Peace Prize is sure to illicit grousing from the peanut gallery, all the while kissing Sharon right on his fat sweaty crack. Must be an *acquired* taste.
