FBI Documents Confirm Bush Allowed Saudis To Escape After 9/11
Press Remains Silent

http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/59199

Dave Gibson
April 20, 2008
In 2007, the group Judicial Watch published newly released FBI documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, concerning the quick departure of many Saudi nationals, including members of the bin Laden family. In one document, the FBI concludes that Osama bin Laden himself may have chartered one of the flights.

The documents were only released after U.S. District Court Judge Richard W. Roberts ordered the FBI to do so. The documents had been previously released but because they had been so heavily and wrongfully redacted, they were of no use. The FBI had originally even censored Osama bin Laden's name from the reports, to "protect privacy interests."

The most damning FBI report reads: "ON 9/19/01, A 727 PLANE LEFT LAX, RYAN FLT#441 TO ORLANDO, FL W/ETA (estimated time of arrival) OF 4-5PM. THE PLANE WAS CHARTERED EITHER BY THE SAUDI ARABIAN ROYAL FAMILY OR OSAMA BIN LADEN...THE LA FBI SEARCHED THE PLANE LUGGAGE OF WHICH NOTHING UNUSUAL WAS FOUND."

That plane made four stops around the country, before leaving the United States and landing in Paris.

The FBI claims that not one of the Saudi nationals nor any members of the bin Laden family had any information worthy of investigation. However, in one document, the FBI claimed to have conducted interviews with 20 of the 23 passengers on the Ryan International Airlines flight leaving LAX, but on another they claim to have only conducted interviews with 15 of the 22 passengers aboard the same flight.

5. We could find out what happened in 24 hours
if anyone in the WH, CIA or FBI wanted to level with the American public. Figuring out what happened based on an out of context story is not really possible.

6. Serious breach of investigative protocol.
Why the rush to move them out of the country? The family members should have been questioned under oath before allowing them to leave.

The fact that they were not indicates an active effort to PREVENT them from being properly questioned.

9. Info from new book
Steve Coll has a new book out called "The Bin Ladens," about the bin Laden family. In it, on p. 526, he says:

"Also boarding the plane in Washington was Omar Awadh bin Laden. He had apparently once shared an address with the Abdullah bin Laden who ran the local office of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY). (The office had previously been a subject of FBI inquiries, which had been aborted in part because of the issue of diplomatic immunity.) Of all the passengers on the bin Laden flight, Omar is the only one known to have even a possible connection to Islamist preaching or organizing. And yet, oddly, Omar may have been one of the few passengers on the charter who was not interviewed by the FBI."

Coll fails to mention quite a lot. For instance, the WAMY address he speaks of was literally THREE BLOCKS from where some of the 9/11 hijackers were living in the months before the attack, at the same time Omar and his brother Abdullah were living there. Also, the FBI investigation in Omar and Abdullah that had started years before resumed just after they left the US. If someone like Omar was not even interviewed by the FBI before leaving the US just after 9/11, that tells me all I need to know about how rigorous these passengers were checked before they left the country.
