Remember the Maine? Remember the Maddox? US military leaders now fear that a copycat Cuban or Tonkin Gulf incident will be either faked or provoked sometime soon in the ship-clogged Persian Gulf.

Once an Iranian attack on a US-flagged tanker or warship is announced, US commanders could be ordered to “counter-attack” with all available force—including nuclear weapons. Even if they suspected a ruse, no serving soldier can fail to protect his or her comrades. Any grunt or general who refused such a “go” command would risk immediate courts-martial, and charges of treason in a time of war.

Once again, the real treason would have come from a White House under siege from Congress, its own generals and an awakening populace—and increasingly desperate to fast-track the apocalypse “God” has personally commanded them to sponsor. As Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice recently reassured the homeless and hungry in Louisiana, “The Lord Jesus Christ is going to come on time.”

After Armageddon.

1. I've heard a few people say they are voting republican

because of what disasters would befall us if Nancy Pelosi were speaker of the house. What about the disaster that would happen if, with our votes, we told our republican government we agree with all their decisions including the war in Iraq and wanted more of the same, i.e. another war for no reason? Tell them to consider that. A vote for a republican house is a vote to go ahead with an Iran war.

In his new exposé of the National Security Agency entitled Body of Secrets, author James Bamford highlights a set of proposals on Cuba by the Joint Chiefs of Staff codenamed OPERATION NORTHWOODS. This document, titled "Justification for U.S. Military Intervention in Cuba" was provided by the JCS to Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara on March 13, 1962, as the key component of Northwoods. Written in response to a request from the Chief of the Cuba Project, Col. Edward Lansdale, the Top Secret memorandum describes U.S. plans to covertly engineer various pretexts that would justify a U.S. invasion of Cuba. These proposals -- part of a secret anti-Castro program known as Operation Mongoose -- included staging the assassinations of Cubans living in the United States, developing a fake "Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington," including "sink a boatload of Cuban refugees (real or simulated)," faking a Cuban airforce attack on a civilian jetliner, and concocting a "Remember the Maine" incident by blowing up a U.S. ship in Cuban waters and then blaming the incident on Cuban sabotage. Bamford himself writes that Operation Northwoods "may be the most corrupt plan ever created by the U.S. government."
