Teresa comment

Yes, a silly issue, but the stupid press run with it. I think at this stage in the campaign the Kerry people need to understand that the media is not on their side and will run with anything.

Can you imagine if they ran with all the stuff that made the Bush people look bad.

But alas.

1. Tell the media you want to hear about issues that affect the country.
DEMAND it. Don't sit by and take it.

in Iraq or that Saddam was behind 911. It is not like she took a country to war based on such deceptions.

3. Ummm ... where is it on the ballot that we vote for First Lady?
Can someone remind me, please? Because I don't remember seeing Tipper's name on the ballot back in 2000.

I do think THK's comment was unfortunate, but it was probably blurted out in a moment of sleep depriviation (I've listened to Teresa enough to know she probably meant that Laura, like the rest of that damned Bush clan, is quite out of touch with what average working women have to contend with, or some such thing (Teresa may be rich, but she participates in all kinds of panels and small-group meetings to talk about issues important to working families)).

And motherhood is so important to Teresa, you KNOW she didn't mean to denigrate motherhood as not being a "real job" (I've never done that job myself, but from watching friends and family do it, I think it's the most challenging job in the world most days).

Karen Hughes and Mary Matalin need to unclench their keisters for a while.

Teresa has graciously apologized. Now, it's time to talk about health care, the quagmire of Iraq, Social Security, the environment ...

(under the whale shit).

This is the most absurd topic I can imagine for the media to spend one minute on. But the worst thing is when Cheney blurts out his nastiness, he is given a pass because it made him feel better...they laugh, giggle, hee hee. Theresa points out the difference in her lifelong activities and Laura's (makes an error and APOLOGIZES for that) and will be held under water for the next 10 days to see if she really is a witch.

6. But I heard the media saying that she apologized quickly
And that it was all within the same "news cycle," which minimizes impact. As far as I can see, she can admit mistakes. What a contrast.

8. Yes, I agree, but
Absolutely -- my point isn't that it is a real issue. My point is that this media will not be a friend to the Kerry camp -- so that though it may be unfair, they have to realize that and campaign accordingly. And that means minimizing mistakes.

And yes I know the other side makes more mistakes -- but as they proved in the Mary Cheney case -- THEY DON'T CARE!
