How Come Presidential Candidates Never Go Bowling For Photo Ops?
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 05:06 PM by cryingshame
Hunting, biking, praying, riding a motor cycle, playing hockey...
landing on a carrier in a flightsuit...

Never bowling...

WHY?

Life's unanswered questions.

1. In Bush's case - It's a matter of National Security
He could hurt himself or others with a bowling ball.

2. probably because Nixon was a bowler.
Didn't he have lanes installed in the WH? Nobody wants to conjure up images of NIxon.

Although I saw Alexandra Pelosi's documentary about the Democratic primaries. Kerry was meeting some Iowans(?) for a talk in a bowling alley & he said he was up for a game.

3. I don't think this photo is real, but...

4. Eh, the only place that'd play well would be Michigan.
This is the first place I've lived where everyone actually owns their own damned bowling shoes! They'll also kick your ass in a game every time. Sheesh.

5. Because they don't have the balls --
also, what if a candidate threw a gutterball on camera? Or in Kerry's case, was faced with a 7-10 split? No matter how he played it, Rove would spin it as being indecisive, a flip-flopper, etc.

Better to play it safe and make pancakes or flip hamburgers.

9. Don't think Dennis had any actual time for bowling during the campaign
However, he did throw a football 30 yards or so at one of his rallies. Can't find the video clip, though.
