Fellow Southern DUers ... How do Yall Feel now?
While I have no fantasies about my state of Alabama going Blue...I most certainly feel confident that the South ain't gonna be a Big Old Chunk Of Red Meat tomorrow!!!!

North Carolina
Arkansas
West Virginia

gonna go blue.........

And what is this crap I keep hearing that Gee Bub will win the Popular Vote??? No freaking way! Turnouts are huge everywhere and that means it's toast and grits for breakfast! I'd like to say Nov. 3, but we all know the R armies of LAWYERS will drag this thing out.

3. Tennessee is supposed to go red, but
I saw an awful lot of Kerry signs in the rural areas surrounding Jackson, TN, which is typically heavily republican. I don't think it will be as deep a red as in the past.

8. I only have a wee glimmer of hope for Ga. REALLY SMALL!
But there is a glimmer! Lots of people have moved into Ga since 2000, and most were Yankees. There's also a lot of anger in the Dems that live here. I realize we will have to depend on BUG support from Atlanta, but I'm still hoping!

25. I see K/E supporters
But so many people here are either A) terribly uninformed (THANKS, 24-hour TV news!) or B) overzealously religious. Most white people I know talk as though it's a given that all whites should/will vote Bush. Makes me sick. But it's fun to stand up for my positions & make those people come as close to actually thinking as they ever will.

GA's going to Bush, but I bet it'll be closer than predicted. There are lots of people here who are against Bush, but aren't vocal about it b/c they don't want their homes and cars vandalized. :(

I agree on the "people just aren't saying" thing, but there are
still lots of people who just instantly say I'm for Bush without thinking. It seems like a me too attitude!

My hubby got a haircut this morning, and the barber started saying how shrub should win tomorrow. Hubby said why do you say that? Have you heard about the bushco connection to the Bin Laden family? You really ought to rent F911. You might be really surprised at what you find out! Barber didn't agree, just said he hadn't seen the move and changed the subject. (I of course asked hubby why he took such a chance when this guy had sharp scissors that close???)

When I rented F911, the jerk at the Blockbuster counter was giving me a hard time about actually renting that propaganda! I listened to him for a few minutes, and finally said, well, we all are free to watch what we want, and to disagree with you if that what we believe, huh? It just wasn'tworth my time to get in an argument with a $5.50/hr clerk who has already been brain washed.

Any reports on how the Big Dog's appearence had any affect on the voters there? If anything we could rally up the base even more and perhaps get some last minute undecideds who actually had jobs during Clinton's administration!

28. Sorry y'all but the south......
belongs to the repugs and no amount of wishful thinking is going to change that any time soon. The South began its swing to the right after LBJ went out on a limb for civil rights and the transformation is pretty much complete. Dixie voted for Carter because he was one of its own. They voted for Clinton also because he was one of their own. I think they turned on Gore because scumbag was more like themselves than Gore was. Scumbag played the redneck and Gore didn't. They love the scumbag because he reminds them of the good old southern boy. Look at the map. The scumbag has 20 to 25 point leads in the heart of old dixie and that to me spells it out. If Kerry was a redneck he would win this election in a walk. The south lost the war, but they control American politics. Most of the vilest senators and congressmen come from red states. That is not a coincidence, that is a fact. A Democrat has to win without the south if he is not from the south and that is a sad statement about our country.

29. Not so fast, sonny!
Some states will just show a lighter shade of red, but some states like Arkansas may turn blue - the numbers are close enough. Remember that our info primarily comes from the state polls that we already know are skewed towards the repugs. Even if a state stays some shade of red, it takes wind out of the repug sail and helps give our man a bigger mandate.

GOTV!

31. You picked out one state....
that just might go blue. What about Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, The Carolinas, and all the rest of the redneck world. The voters in these places are the most provincial in the nation. Just listen to the scumbag when he blasts away at Massachusetts. He insults that state every chance he gets as a signal to the redneck that he is one of them and fuck all them damn Yankees.

30. Cautiously optimistic. Early voting turnout was heavy. Smirk*/Sneer have
bought more ad time on radio and local tv and I've heard more radio ads in the past 24 hrs. than I've heard in the past month or two. I'm HOPING that Kerry/Edwards win this thing, and I hope that heavy turnout will help to turn TN blue. Hoping and feeling very nervous!!

35. You're nuts, you're nuts..and you're nuts.
None of those states are even coming close to going for Kerry. The appeal to fear, racism and prejudice in those states is just too strong for Kerry to overcome. Kerry will not win a state between Missouri and California, nor will he win anything from Kentucky south and east of Texas, with the possible exception of Florida. I certainly hope the national party will learn from its mistakes in this election and pull most of its electoral appartus out of the south.
