Ballots from 40 precincts in Ohio loaded into a truck with Bush/Cheney
sticker in the window.

Received this email a little while ago:

From the Kos:

WTF? look at this!

http://americablog.blogspot.com/

In a nutshell, Stefan is a poll manager for the Kerry campaign in Cincinnati. His precinct is heavily made up of minorities and students (i.e., leans Kerry). One of the duties of the poll managers, Stefan told me in a phone call minutes ago, is to follow the poll workers to election headquarters as they drop off the ballots and ballot boxes. Stefan followed the poll workers who didn't go directly to the election headquarters. Instead, they went to a local public school where workers put the ballot machines into a semi trailer, and then the poll workers handed off the sealed bags containing the ballots to someone Stefan assumed was with the county board of elections.

Whats this about?

30. it was a repeat 2000 bait and switch
they knew Moore and others were headed to Florida to guard that election this time so while the focus was on Florida they set up Ohio to cut off any Kerry leads that would crop up ....it had to be. the numbers are to surreal to not be ...

I think this thing is FAR from over. The media hasn't talked to the Ohio "voters" yet.

6. That's very intriguing, but the sticker looks photoshopped to me.
I worked today with a Dem poll manager in Cincinnati as well, and although I didn't participate in the following of ballot boxes to the BoE, I do know they were each well-tracked.

Here's the photo from the blog; everything looks right except that sticker in the window.

8. It's a tough call
The sticker doesn't pick up a light source and the angle seems slightly off on the sticker. I zoomed in and the blue background on the sticker (lower lefthand corner) blends in with the back window of the truck the way a real sticker would (no hard lines).

But, yet, it's even more impossible to fake the person taking the ballots in/out of the pickup truck. There may be some merit to this image.

If its true, it needs to be investigated.

10. I looked at it more closely
and it does look very photoshopped.

The angle is all wrong.

The lighting seems wrong too.

This could be a plant.

Hmmm

the lighting doesnt seem irregular to me but the sticker is probably a good question as to its validity.

31. I think it is real IMHO
Every time we took pictures at night rallys or outside HQ in front of our cars our K/E stickers always reflected a lot of light- we even joked about it before. Look at the light reflects off of the hubcap and side of the truck.

17. it's very fake. look at the light in the rest of the picture.
there's no way the light would reflect on it like that.

great sentiment. good try. no dice, though.

18. My initial reaction is that it's PhotoShopped, but I couldn't say for
certain. There appears to be less grain in the sticker than in everything else. It also seems brighter than it ought to be. But, it could also be that its reflecting light more than tinted window it's on. I'd need to see a higher-resolution original to make a better call.

23. Inclined to think it's photoshopped
Artificial nighttime light can do funny things, because there's different light sources and different materials have different reflectivity.

I looked at it up close (high zoom) in photoshop and didn't see the sort of artifacts surrounding the blend that I would expect on a true image (seemed out of character with the rest of the image).

I do a lot of work with digital imaging, although I would stop short of calling myself an expert, but my inclination is that the bumpersticker is photoshopped, but don't take my answer conclusively.

15. Photoshopped or not...
...I don't think it's outrageous that the people working for polling stations would have opinions about who they'd like to vote for. Just because I have a Kerry/Edwards sticker on my car doesn't mean I'd be complicit in tossing ballots for ANYONE. I think a lot of Americans have respect for the voting process, even though the GOP doesn't.

Should only people with no political opinions be allowed to come into contact with ballots? If you worked at a polling station, would you have had the foresight to cover/remove your political stickers, or would you perhaps even forget to do so? Sorry, but this photo concerns me very little.

I could do better than that! It doesn't even look like the bumpersticker is a photo... it looks more like something that was colored.

I'm hoping Kerry has some strong proof because this is pretty damn weak

Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 09:33 AM by deseo
.... it is a very poor job. The moron who did it is not very good, he should have

1) done a transform on the sticker so it had the same perspective as the truck window

2) turned down the brightness on the sticker considerably. the window is solid black but the sticker is lit enough to see the blue? not in the real world.

26. Lack of vanishing point/perspective throws it
the light level difference is easily explained by reflectivity differences, but my main problem is why would someone POSSIBLY committing a crime be giving away their partisan bent?

27. Photoshop or not
what they need is a videotape. I work with photoshop EVERY DAY and I can tell you that sometimes I've actually had to go in and photoshop details in an ORIGINAL photo because they look fake even though they're real. I'm not going to speculate on this photo unless I could look at a hi-res version in Photoshop and study the actual pixels. I'm just telling you that sometimes the most convincing photos are fake and the most "unconvincing" are real.

so why didn't Mr. Poll Manager get a picture of the license plate? Of course the problem now is that even if we find the guy, you can be sure there won't be a sticker on his truck.

http://www.independent-media.tv/item.cfm?fmedia_id=9628&fcategory_desc=Under

Spooky how Karl Rove masterminded this over the last 2 years of planning.

E voting machines from Diebold who gives only to Republicans.

80lb weight paper law enforced by Blackwell.

So on and so forth...we were screwed in an e-voting no paper trail state.
