My published LTTE: Democratic Future Lies In Dean Group
It was published yesterday in The Day, an Eastern CT Newspaper
http://www.theday.com/eng/web/news/re.aspx?re=4ABD0DFF-6A90-4DE8-BB52-424A9BE99F39

Yippee! This also keeps my record of having one LTTE per month published in The Day.

Published on 11/22/2004

Letters To The Editor:
“It was this blue-state Republican's favorite Democrat, Zell Miller, who called his party ‘a national party no more,'” according to a letter from Charles Hamblen (“Even blue states saw a rise in Bush numbers,” Nov. 19). The Democratic National Committee's (DNC) and Democratic Leadership Council's (DLC) swing-state strategy intentionally writes off the red states, sabotaging the efforts of struggling Democrats to rebuild their parties in those states, but it also takes blue states for granted. Meanwhile the constant assault of the pro-Republican media slowly erodes Democratic support, and “blue” states become battlegrounds.

In a way, Zell Miller is right. The Democratic Party is a national party no more, all thanks to the brilliant “triangulation,” dubbed “strangulation,” by the Democratic-base, strategy of the Clintonistas, like Terry “McAwful” and his merry band of Republican-lite Democrats.

Contrary to Mr. Hamblen's and the DLC's view, Howard Dean advocated a 50-state strategy and reaching out to red-state voters by courageously revealing the “robber baronism” of Republican economic policies and the immorality and hypocrisy of President George W. Bush, who sent American soldiers to die in a war against a country that did not attack us, while letting Osama bin Laden run free.

Howard Dean's political action committee, Democracy for America (DFA), has started filling in the vacuum caused by the DNC's and DLC's abandonment of the red states.

Thanks to Howard Dean, Democrats in Texas have new hope. While DFA in Texas couldn't get Richard Morrison over Rep. Tom DeLay, they did force Rep. DeLay to actually campaign in his own district and they came closer than any Democrat beforehand to unseating morally challenged Rep. DeLay.

The future of the Democratic Party lies in Howard Dean's DFA, which is working to rebuild the Democratic Party from the grassroots upwards.

P.S. I forgot to add to this LTTE that Dean had a 50% win-loss record with his recommendations and endorsements and slightly less than 50% with his Dean Dozen endorsements. His Dean Dozens garnered 15 out of 32 victories, 7 of whom were novices to politics. Oh, and of course Howard's cousin is the newly elected mayor of Salt Lake City, UT.

1. I was a Dean candidate who did better then the DCCC
candidate. I got 100+ votes with a 38% of the vote. :) And in my local legislative race the Dean candidate helped unseat the incumbent (he did not get it but we got rid of someone who was really hurting the elderly).

2. I'll be headed back to DFA meetings
Now that the election is over.

There's another Dean-Kucinich affiliated group thats supposed to be setting up shop in Florida soon. Progressive Democrats for America.

I'll probably be working with them too. In the mean-time I've got 'til tomorrow to decide if I'm going to run for County DEC Chairman. Gotta take the party back from the Dixiecrats and do-nothings.
