21. I think you said it right
Gave the Bush campaign great footage if he is the eventual nominee.

but that didn't look like a sane candidate. He just turned his campaign into an SNL skit.

Edited on Mon Jan-19-04 10:43 PM by BeyondGeography
Growling out all these names of states. Reinforcing the anger image with this crazed look in his eyes. This campaign has been much better for Dean's presence, but, I'm sorry, this is really bad.

13. This is why Dean is losing support
I can't believe how unstable he looks right now. Those faces he's making will be used in campaign ads against him. He looks scary

41. That sounds about right
You've expressed it succinctly.

Dean was the guy who kicked the door down, got people interested in the election, made it "cool" to openly criticize the smirkistas in public. Dean was the guy who was most gentlemanly about his fellow candidates -- and that was after being in the middle of their feeding frenzy for months. But when their negative ads started dragging him down and he counter-attacked -- suddenly, the others "run a positive campaign." Yeah, right. Howard Dean was railroaded, by the usual suspects. I am NOT comfortable about that.

14. This is good because it shakes things up.
If Dean had been annointed the nominee without much of a contest, and then he (GOD FORBID) lost to Bush in the GE, we would always be wondering whether we didn't make a mistake putting all our eggs in one basket...

AND, Iowa and NH might overshadow the SOTU, with Bush talking about moon bases and marriage counsellors.

37. I understand Oscar has offered oratory coaching to all the candidates

Although his office has been very clear that he has not endorsed any candidate, nor does he plan to, he has graciously offered to help all with their presentations, and there are unconfirmed reports that he has made each a present of a red plaid vest, for visibility purposes in the fog.

Especially since they broke from Edwards to Dean. A lot of people got a chance to see that spectacle.

I know Dean meant to pump some positive energy to his supporters in Iowa, but that, that.."performance"...you can bet Kerry and Clark will use it too.
