McGovern's Revenge
Does anyone who's folowed George McGovern's support for Wesley Clark think that he's doing this for two reasons?

One, of course, is that he thinks Clark is a swell guy who could win.

But two, is for a sense of revenge as the warmongering right. McGovern, like Clark, is a war veteran and hero who was slimed and lost to worthless Republican at a moment of great peril.

We are in a moment of great peril, being "led" by a worthless Republican, and McGovern sees another Democrat, rising up in an unusual way. This Democrat, thank God, comes with a layer of body armor in the form of four stars and a very rare telegenicity.

McGovern, speaking on CNN (now), says that Clark will give the GOP--which has unfairly smeared Democrats as soft on defense--their comeuppance. I think for him the political is personal.

1. I saw it, that was great
McGovern is a good man, and I am very glad he is supporting Clark. I look forward to Clark getting the chance to give back to Senator McGovern in the form of a humiliating Republican defeat.

2. That sound you hear?
Its the penduluum swinging back, Jack.

We've had twenty four years of right-ward drift in this country and it's time to move us back to caring about people instead of profits.

Break up the media monopolies to start with.

Get us a liberal SCOTUS

Elect a real liberal as president, one who isn't afraid of the title.

Wesley Clark

3. Not only is McGovern a Veteran
but he was really a war hero. He flew perilous bombing missions.
There was a book out recently about this group who were so brave.

I agree with McGovern's Revenge theory; it was so unfair to him when he was slimed by the Repugs.

4. I never thought about how perilous his missions were
He must think of comrades who died when he gets smeared as soft on defense. What crap.

It really is personal. I hope the Clark people happily tout McGovern's endorsement.

5. Yeh, the mortality rate in the air war in Europe was extremely high.
Combat losses were in the thousands, something like one on three airmen who went over Europe from England died. It was the 2nd front that Stalin kept asking for.
