Edwards' stump has really improved!
I saw him today (on tv of course) talking about "two Americas." That is a really resonant speech, at least to me. I now understand why he surged in Iowa.

Has anybody else seen Edwards speak lately?

1. Yes
Goddamit he sounded good.

IMO there's not enough depth behind it. But all that trial lawyer training seems to be coming in handy.

2. yes
He is much better than he was last summer. He's been giving the two Americas speech for awhile now. It was on C-SPAN Friday, Saturday and Sunday, each time at a different venue. Its very populist and hopeful. Folks who don't understand why Kucinich and Edwards are close have not been listening to their stump speeches. Very similar message of a hopeful vision of less poverty and profit; and more jobs, education and health care for all.

4. Yes
He is impressive. I was impressed with him two years ago and thought he would be a viable candidate. Now, I know I was right. I do not know what happened with the slow start. I hope the money comes flowing in for Edwards. The more strong candidates we have, the better the choice, as far as I am concerned. I'm still with Clark, but love Kucinich, Kerry and Edwards. Go Dems!

6. Edwards is very well-spoken. He shone at the debates
and impressed an awful lot of people with his thoughtful comments.

I am not an Edwards fan but one must give credit where credit is due. He presented himself very, very well.

7. Phenomenal improvement since last spring
I am a longtime Edwards supporter who stands by my DU assessment of one year ago: Edwards is a gamble on greatness, Kerry is just good enough to get you beat.

I'm counting on the remaining states to understand that and spit out the proper pecking order.

Edwards' blase speeches early in the campaign were shocking, but once he embraced the proper positive vision the residue was inevitable. My friend and I convene a dozen+ apolotical voters to watch debates each political year. Anyone who does similar would reject Howard Dean as a viable candidate immediately. That type of critical swing voter, especially the women, will literally shake their head in disgust or even ask me to change the channel, when negative cynicism is the relentless theme.

8. For students of campaigns & elections...

...it started with teh commonwealth club speech in mid-December.

That's where he started introducing these new expressions of the campaign's ideas.

I think they timed it that way. But that's where they started putting it in overdrive. That was the debut of the new speech. That's where they first talked about FDR and optimism, among other things.

However, the ideas have been consistent.
