Staples pulls ads from Sinclair
http://news.findlaw.com/ap_stories/f/1310/1-5-2005/20050105154508_29.html

BOSTON (AP) - Staples Inc. is pulling its office products advertisements from news programming on Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. television stations after receiving complaints from customers angry over what they believe to be the media company's right-wing political tilt.

Staples' move came after a liberal media watchdog group last month began a campaign encouraging people to complain to advertisers including Staples and other companies about news content on Sinclair-owned stations.

This would help explain Sinclair's threats.

Hey, they backed a guy with a 49% approval rating when they could have stayed out of it. Score one more for boycotts.

1. Actually, other media report a contrary story.

This link contradicts your story. I guess we'll have to sit back and see what is really going on.

This is what Staples says:

A spokesman for Framingham-based Staples said Wednesday that the company's decision to discontinue advertising during news programming Jan. 10 was made in response to the complaints and as part of the company's routine, periodic adjustments to its media buying.

4. FindLaw wouldn't accept a press release, I'm fairly certain.
I work in a library and we point many patrons to FindLaw as an objective source (including for the media who frequently ask us for help).
