------ ALL Dean supporters check in.....thank you -----------
Edited on Tue Jan-20-04 05:44 PM by cthrumatrix
A message to all Dean DU'ers.

Do NOT reply to any Dean negative threads....don't touch them....let the bashers go on their own...and you will see the "bashers" lose steam. DO NO POST. They are egging you on.

Do not "stick up for Dean" by replying to "what will Dean do"? Forget them...let the bashers have their thread fall apart.

WE control the thread choices...which are issues.

DO NOT engage in "negative Dean threads"...that is "their plan".

Let others do what they choose....Dr. Dean would be proud of you and your support. Change starts with us.

When you don't give negativity "energy" ...it goes away. Think about it.

22. Wow. And lets not intimidate people and discourage dissent
I have always said Dean was a very viable candidate and would vote for him if nominated as the Democratic nominee. But that little ra ra speech to his supporters in Iowa after the results of the caucuses
was kind of freaky. I'm taking a hard second look at the man.

32. You know Walt, I have the same feeling

The anti-Dean people will fully expect us to automatically vote for their candidate if he wins, but after seeing how they ,and the media have treated my candidate, I'm not sure if I can fall in line with the one they're supporting. It is wrong to tear others down in order to put one's own on a pedestal. I'm still concerned about John Kerry and his Skull and Bones affiliation, and his siding with Bush on nearly everything. At one time, I maintained that I would vote for the one who was nominated, but not anymore; they'll have to work for my vote now.

41. The status quo won last night...
..Iowa remains a mid-western state with small aspirations. Will that happen in New Hampshire? I don't think so, the left there is far more progressive. I'm taking a wait and see attitude with the rest of the candidates...I won't go with Clark or Lieberman, and frankly Edwards is far too wet behind the ears. If the party goes with the safe candidate, then MANY progressives will once again look elsewhere.

25. No way would I switch from DEAN to X__

As a matter of fact, I'm more determined now to support him than ever.
Today, I began by sending an extra contribution to his campaign. In my opinion, people are taking too much stock in the caucus. After reading about how few ever become president after winning there, I'm not the least bit concerned about Dean coming in third.

for the most part for about 2 months now. What bothers me is they have to come into the positive threads we have, and try to start crap.
I know I should probably put these folks on ignore but I am curious. After the election, I intend on checking these folks posts - hopefully, their only problem is disliking Dean. I understand Dean isn't for everyone, and it makes me curious about where they stand on other things.

Anyway, I'm with Dean until he drops out or the convention. I doubt Dean will drop out and neither will I.

42. what I did today
after not smoking my victory cigar (is there a "cigar smokers for dean"?) last night, I got up this morning, and

1)wrote ten letters to New Hampshire
2)put my Dean button on my winter coat (it had been sitting by the door for a month)
3)got the mother of my neighbour to donate, and
4) just went to contribute fifty bucks myself.

I really think that's all it takes.

It was the others (Kerry, Edwards, Gephart) that let the repugs get all the power.

Remember what Truman said "he denounced the 80th Congress as a "do-nothing" body dominated by men with "a dangerous lust for power and privilege"

Right now the Dems are just Republican light. I wasn't going to vote at all until Dean came along. Got me interested in politics again.

The repugs and Dems don't like outsiders comming along and messing up what they have.

49. Bloodied, unbowed
Still damn proud to support Governor Dean...and thickening my hide to all the hater threads. Iowa is a setback...all the more reason to pour our focus, our energy, our efforts into NH.

I believe that Dean has reached the crucible in his campaign...months of heavy media saturation (some postive, mostly negative, slanted and distorted) and concentrated attacks from his rivals left Dean vulnerable and his own missteps were amplified for Iowa's voters. How he recovers and how mobilized his support is in NH will define the future of his bid.

Give 'em hell, Howard!

64. Howard Will Win the New Hampshire Primary.
Cthrumatrix, savy thoughts on your part.

The thing that eats at the other candidates is Dean's money and organization...and poll numbers.

And any bounce that Kerry gets out of Iowa will come at Clark's expense, not Dean's in New Hampshire.

I truly think that one of the reasons that Dean was so upbeat last night was because he knows how solid his support is in New Hampshire.

The media will now focus on Kerry and Clark vs. Kerry. Dean can now stay above it all...and win just seven days from now.

Another positive note from yesterday in Iowa: the most pro-Iraq war candidate, Richard Gephardt, was forced to drop out completely.

:hi:

And I would say that if all politicians were like Dr. Dean, our country would be a much better place.

86. I know!
I'm not even going to bother reading the negative posts in this forum. And I'm not even going to bother watching all the negativity on the news as well. Getting sucked into that is a waste of time, and there are plenty of positive alternatives we should be focusing on -- doing whatever we can to help get Dean all the way to the White House! :-)

90. Yeah...I'm a little embarassed...
I'm just glad I wasn't out there on that stage. :)

Feel much better. Dean's pulling it back together right now.

I think he needs to re-center his campaign around the corporate takeover of America. Maybe tone down the volume, just a bit. But show people that he'll work for jobs, fair wages, and health care. Keep the passion, while toning down the hate. He's built his credibility with folks- you can't be "angry" without it- so now he needs to show ideas.

82. I am still here.
A little irritated after seeing all of the negative posts, but still here.

But on a positive note, today I:

Signed up on officially on the Dean website to caucus for Dean and even asked for information on being a precinct captain.

Donated $50.

Signed up for the local DFL "Rock the Vote" informational meeting to learn about issues and how to GOTV.

And I spoke up at work and school and defended Dean today, which is not an easy thing for me to do.

So, I am still trying.

104. Same here....
This process is still really new to me... a few years ago I could have cared less about politics. Dean has changed that all for me. I've been so inspired by his campaign that I've donated money and at this very moment I'm writing letters to people in New Hampshire on his behalf. But I want to do even more. I just feel so strongly that he is the right candidate for America...

Anyway, good luck to you in all that you do! :-)

85. Oooops! I didn't say anthing until this afternoon when I saw the speech
on C-Span feed online. Then I did start to reply. I felt I needed to reply to some of the more "unenlightened" newer posts later today.

You have a good point. But, unfortunately they will just keep putting more and more threads out there. And, they will be "concealed" and posted in GD forum. Hard to ignore.

Hopefully it will die down in the next day. I think the "Speech" distortion did need to be answered, but most of the rest of it really isn't worth it.

Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 12:17 AM by milkyway
speech and Q&A from Manchester today and was reminded all over again why he's my favorite candidate in decades. He offers intelligent solutions to people's problems, without any bullshit. Sometimes he is so honest in small ways that it is almost shocking. A few weeks ago I heard him give a speech on CSPAN where he told the audience that "first we'll talk for a little bit about Mad Cow, and then I'll give my basic speech." Who else would let their audience know the truth--that they're getting the same basic speech he's given to hundreds of other audiences? It seems like a dumb thing to say, but it's downright refreshing. He talks to the public sometimes in the same manner and using the same language that he would speak in private to his campaign aides.

I think the campaign realizes the mistakes it has made and is turning things around today. There are a lot of outside reasons for Iowa, but Dean and the campaign are also responsible. I think that he got caught up in his media image, and when other candidates co-opted what he was saying, he felt he needed to separate himself again by being Howard Dean squared. But seeing the Gov today on CSPAN really lifted my spirits.

I already decided on the bus home not to reply to anything negative. I was there; I felt the energ; I gave my energy; I witnessed another moment in our movement. The caucus results do not tell the whole story. I am still committed to this campaign, in fact, even moreso.

109. Hi Dean Supporters'
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 09:54 AM by Crewleader
I just want to say, the media has been totally unfair in making or breaking a candidate and they are zeroing in on Howard Dean.
They can do it to any candidate...Dean was rallying his troops up after spending so much time in Iowa and working hard all the volunteers that went there. So in his deep appreciation at the end of the night he wanted in a fighting manner with the sleeves up as he shouted the states that are left not to give up and no you shouldn't, keep up your spirits.

It's not over with Howard Dean as the media likes to express, he's got a poweful war chest many of you and the grassroots money that has gone to his campaign will carry him through.

This is a fight we are in together...I hope in the end we all can come together whoever it may be...and I'll vote whoever it is...so don't give up hope...we need to be rid of Bush after watching his state of the union more then ever. How can he justified the War in Iraq...he ties it in with the Terrorism. And did you notice not one word about the knowledgement of the soldiers on the TIME magazine who was there while he gave his speech as they looked real uncomfortable too.

Iowa is down...many more states to go friends as Dean shouted! :-)
