shown that she had horns and a spiked tail and she's still going to get confirmed.

For that matter I will predict that she will get many dem votes on the confirmation.

5. Your right
but regardless, it's important that democrats take the opportunity where ever possible to speak out and show the incompetence and hypocrisy of Bush's policies. The press won't do it's job. So it's up to the democratic leadership and us to point out that we have a lying evil monkey in the white house.

7. They grilled her quite good.
Yes, they could've been harsher, but they gotta be professional. From
that level, they asked their questions quite well.

And I don't think there's any point in trying to block this. Even if they could, Bush would just put up extremist after extremist until somebody got appointed. There's no escaping that, even if the Democrats had a Senate majority.

She'll pass the committee tomorrow and she'll be approved by the full senate later this week.

11. Solid day. Boxer was amazing!
but If the PNAC is ever brought up in one of these things it will be the day. Here we have a document, a blueprint...a SMOKING GUN game plan -the explicit nature of which has been documented in great detail, yet none dare speak its name.

14. They were not "hot" enough to make this a national media issue.
The did pretty good, especially Babs, but they were not "hot" enough to force the media to actaully cover this.

If they had dropped the "L Bomb", every Republican news outlet would be shitting in their pants, running stories defending her. At least that would have gotten the discussion into living rooms. "Is Rice really a liar like Kerry said???"

I predict this will quietly slip away, just like all the "bombshells" DEMS have in their arsenal, but never get around to dropping.

Hey- perhaps I'm wrong- we will see who confirms her & who sides with Bush/media.

17. I'm more amazed every time I watch the members of our party . . .
on TV during any confirmation hearing and even for the electoral confirmation debate.

Each party member got up there and said their peace (which should have been done in 2000 and maybe, just maybe, Dubya would not be in there right now); however, at the end of everyone of them, they stated they would vote FOR Bush to get the electoral votes from Ohio.

Like Barbara Boxer today, the woman did not back down from Rice for a minute. Always backing up everything she said with fact as Rice got really pissed off. She was beating Rice like an old rug. Also, Kerry (who was not in the Congress on the day the electoral votes were questioned. Of course, there were several on both sides not there; however, Kerry not being there made him look weak to me).

However, we all know she is going to be confirmed. If all the Dem's voted NO, would she still get confirmed? Is it not just a party line split but a certain percentage to get confirmed? Was just wondering about that. (Obviously need to educate myself about this).

20. Barbara was great, but the media has an excuse for ignoring her...
...after all, shes just a California New-age baby-killing Liberal- OF COURSE *She* thinks Condi is dishonest.

If ALL the DEMS had done a better job of backing her up- and if they had dropped the "L Bomb", this would be a week-long national controversy- and in every living room, folks would be pondering- "Is Condi really a liar?, hmmm, I guess she did say lots of things that were not true..."

Overall, the DEMS did a "C" job of getting the issue of Condi's credibility into the national dialouge.

but the news reports all STILL say of her, "...likely to be confirmed..." as if it's a done deal. Is it a done deal?

16. If they had done such a great job......
they would have asked her questions about the Neocon PNAC plan, whether she believed in that ideology...about her thoughts on the United Nations and what she thought of that institution....and more questions about 9/11.....in where they could link her ineptitute in that position vs. her now getting a new position.

Too much was left unsaid. it's not always how you ask the question....but the question you ask that makes a difference.

Maybe she is a woman of color, but we need to make her face have a reddish undertone, wear her butt down....

I give the Dems a B+ overall, Boxer an A.

24. although it looks like it's a shoe-in for condi to be confirmed
I think it's important to get her statements on the record...

From what I was able to watch -- condi pretty much ducked and dodged questions, and rattled off the "echo chamber" script

With rare exception -- Condi was not "put on the spot" and pressed to answer the questions without the "talking point script"

One of the concerns expressed was - will Condi be an independent voice, or will she continue to "stay on message"? From her answers -- it looks like she will be staying on message and retain her position as lead singer in the bush choir.
