Are people taking the "W" stickers off their cars?
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 01:10 PM by barbaraann
I drive a lot and usually see several a day and I swear I haven't seen one in a week! Also, there were a couple of pickup trucks with W stickers that were parked prominently where I live and aren't now. Has anyone else noticed fewer W stickers?

3. I've noticed more
and we started seeing them after the election. Maybe they really thought he was going to lose then put them on to show they voted for him. I saw a 'I support our President' one just yesterday.

12. In Red State hellholes, they've definitely picked up.
Some have especially obnoxious W stickers that read "STILL the President."

This is well and truly unprecedented. I'm 46; I remember Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton being re-elected, but never before have I seen a cult of believers who were obsessed with rubbing the opposition's noses in it for a President's second term.

yeah, he's a "uniter, not a divider."

5. Unfortunately my Freeper neighbor still has hers on
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 01:20 PM by tridim
I can see it right out my window.. She also has her house and her car plastered with flags. She's one of only 2 or 3 Bush supporters in our 600 unit townhouse complex, so I don't get uptight about it. I have noticed less W stickers in general while on the road, but there weren't many here in the first place.. IN A RED STATE! I still see lots of K/E stickers BTW.

A few weeks ago I saw a sticker that read.. "Kerry lost, get over it!" My gut reaction was to ram into the SUV at 80mph, but my conscience stopped me.

And then there's the trifecta at my old college town (Athens, GA):

I know instantly that any person that has those three things on his/her car is a person that I would not like.

25. haven't noticed, but have seen a surge of yellow ribbons
on trucks and SUVs. So much so that it has to be an organized effort from somewhere. Started noticing the increase around bush's Inauguration. As the polls showed big drops for thinking that it was worth going in - almost as if the counter effort is to pressure people to stop thinking that way by giving the impression that most people support the war.

She and I talked about the SS crisis...she thinks Bush is lying and it's freaking out her GOP parents...

I saw this as an opening and lent her a copy of OutFoxed and F/911 and she basically has seen the light...a little too late...but...

She's not sure now about what is going on though...I mentioned the Gannon story and she was just in a state of denial that this story could be true.

She'll learn.

41. I know of several that have come off...
I work for the USDA...after Bush's latest program cuts, there are a LOT of pissed off farmers who voted for him. Just before the election, the USDA Farm Service Agency offices were scrambling to send out farm payments that were mandated by Bush to be sent out before November 2, 2004, in hopes that the farmer's votes would be guaranteed. It worked, at least, if one takes into consideration the huge number of Bush/Cheney stickers seen on farming trucks in the parking lot of our offices. Now, after learning about the huge cuts the USDA is facing, they feel like suckers for helping to put him back in office.

Many farmers are facing losing everything they have...it's sad, but certainly illustrates why we should put a little more thought into why, and for whom we cast our votes. Nothing the Bush administration does, is without an agenda...too bad some learned this too late.

it seems like the W and Bush/Cheney stickers disappeared pretty quickly after the election, but many, many people kept their Kerry stickers on. The cool older lady across the street still has her Kerry signs out front (even though she re-landscaped after the election). She said she's doing it as a protest. She reads the Nation and she's so great.
