Zogby Poll - asks if you watch West Wing LOL!
Just got a new interactive Zogby poll to fill out.
Typing as I complete the survey...

Has the normal questions about if you vote or not and what party you belong to, etc.

Then questions about nuclear weapons, illegal aliens, farm subsidies and then asks you watch West Wing!

Then if you say yes, you get some actual questions about the show:

Q: In the show's current plot-line, President Bartlet's administration is nearing its end. Republican Senator Arnold Vinick (played by Alan Alda) and Democratic Congressman Matthew Santos (played by Jimmy Smits) are poised to capture their parties' nominations. Who would you rather see elected the next fictional President of the United States?

Q: Putting aside your own political preferences, which character's election-Vinick or Santos-would make for a more interesting show?

Vinick
Santos
Neither
Not sure

Think that this is from the show's producers trying to see which actor to hire for the next season?

Maybe not - next questions asked bought what reality shows you watch and

Q: Do you plan to watch the Academy Awards?

Q: In your opinion who is the best host or hostess of the Oscars?

Q: Do you choose a movie based on

Male Star
Female Star
Plot
Review
Friends' suggestion
Chase scenes
Rating
Other/do not watch movies
Not sure

Q: Of the following, which Academy Award nominated actor or actress would you like to see run for public office?

Clint Eastwood
Johnny Depp
Will Smith
Alan Alda
Paul Newman
James Earl Jones
Mel Gibson
Annette Bening
Sigourney Weaver
Drew Barrymore
Meryl Streep
Whoopi Goldberg
Denzel Washington
Halle Berry
Other/none
Not sure

Then there are questions about the kinds of planes you would prefer to fly one and if you would pay more for direct flights...

Then jumps to
Q: Have you purchased a new car within the past two years?

Then...
Q: Who was the greatest male athlete of all time?

Q: Who was the greatest female athlete of all time?

Q: St. Patrick's Day is a month away. Do you plan to go out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

Q: Do you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree that St. Patrick's Day should be made into a federal holiday?

Q: Do you have any Irish ancestry?

Q: If you could add any ancestry to your background, what would it be?

Q: How often does your spouse or significant other listen to you in conversations?

Q: How often do you listen to your spouse or significant other in conversations?

Then the normal demographic info - except that this time they ask about your sexual orientation as well as your religious preference.

Gotta wonder who is paying for this survey or if they group a bunch together for the discount survey of the month. For X $ we will include two questions for you; buy 3 questions for 5% off...

Now we can watch for these statistics to show up in the news.

1. Zogby regularly surveys for commercial interests. He has to pay the
bills between elections. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

4. Oh - I know
that they do. Just interesting that they seem to include the needs of what has to be a number of different clients into one survey. Makes the switching from subject to subject interesting.

2. Vinick Would Never Make It
I mean, that is soooo unrealistic, the fundies would never let a social progressive win a primary (for a national race).

7. LOL!
You should write Clark and the West Wing folks and see if you can get Clark a spot on the show - maybe he could be the Security Advisor for who ever wins this election cycle or a policy consultant during the campaigning.

I find Alan Alda running as the Republican candidate very interesting.

13. Speaking of Clarks, I took the survey and Wes Clark wasn't an option
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 03:27 PM by FLDem5
for a question like "If you were voting today in the Pres election who would you be likely to vote for on the Dem ticket."

Why isn't Clark considered on this? There were several really bogus names on the list, too.

I wasn't very happy.

5. Often strange questions
During the election campaign, Zogby often had questions from whether you prefer Coke to Pepsi to which hair coloring products you prefer.

12. Noticed that as well
Would like to be a fly on the wall as the psychological profilers review the tallies.

8.  Drew Barrymore for President!
ok, I like her as an actress and I am confident she is Dem, but geeez, some of those people they picked. :eyes: Where was John Cusack? He is probably actually going to run.

10. not as bad as the last one about chocolate and roses
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 02:37 PM by imenja
but still, absurd questions. Except that he does market research and his using us for free surveys.
For the record, I voted for no movie star to be president.

Is there some bill about making St Patty's day a national holiday that I missed? What a bizarre question. The beer companies must be behind that one.

11. Guess that using the net
is not a lot different - though cheaper - than trying to catch people willing to answer on the phone.

Don't know if there is a St. Pat's bill or not. I thought beer commpanies as well - except for the questions about ancestory. Irish Americans are pretty politically involved - well some anyway... but then we would have to have the Spanis American holiday and the Italian American Holiday and then the French American holiday.... oops, that one would never get through this admin...

Nevertheless - I say the more paid holidays the better... and I'll drink to that!
:toast:
