Letter from my congressperson (Richard Pombo, CA) re: Delay.
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about recent allegations regarding House Majority Leader Tom Delay. I appreciate hearing from you.

I want to bring to light the truth about what is really happening. This is a highly coordinated attack, organized by liberal Democrats and their allies to stop the work of the House of Representatives. It is sad to say the liberals have become the party of no -- no ideas, no solutions and no agenda.

Because of their lack of any positive agenda for moving the Nation forward, they have turned to the last option they have left - making baseless ethics complaints about their fellow Members of Congress. As detailed in recent articles in The Washington Post and The Hill, Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), a former Clinton advisor and now chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is formulating a plan to run campaigns in 2006 focusing on bogus charges of ethical corruption, not issues.

I am saddened to see that in these times when our Country is faced with many important issues - issues on which the Republican Party has set out a positive, forward looking agenda - the liberals have nothing to offer. I welcome a healthy debate on Social Security reform, energy policy, tax reform, foreign policy and other issues facing the Nation.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I look forward to hearing from you again as issues arise in the 109th Congress.

I am saving the e-mail to use in letters to the editor during the 06' campaign. I have a hunch Pombo's defense of Delay isn't going to be looking very bright by then.

the Democratics were sometimes Liberals?

4. Wow
What a partisan hack. I wonder why the "liberal democrats" don't want to work with people like him.

5. Pombo's an effin idiot from the central valley.
Giant belt buckle boy with a constituency just as dumb as he is. He's never seen a patch of earth that wouldn't look better with asphalt over it.

11. The California 11th congressional district has been so gerrymandered
it now includes parts of the San Francisco Bay area. Unfortunately, the district overall includes a larger swath of the more conservative Central Valley (thus, the Republicans probably think it's still a "safe" district, but they are wrong). If you look at an electoral map of California from 04', you will notice only an narrow strip along the coast of California is blue. Most of the landmass of California is quite "red."

7. Pombo's going to face a Dem challenger
I'm going to a fundraiser for the Dem opponent. Many SF Bay Area Dem supporters are focusing on this one. I think we can win this one but I'm optimistic on political races.

9. How Come With THEM It's Always "Attacks?"
Edited on Sun Apr-03-05 11:47 AM by K8-EEE
They never see themselves as "attacking" Clinton -- wtf was that then, it was nobody's business, not like what's going on now.

It's the "persecution" button -- press as needed, it always works especially with the rw-er type Krish-tunnns....no matter what the situation (like them having all the power!) they're always being persecuted, waaaah!

10. I think
Jerry McNerney is planning to run again. He had no political experience when he jumped in as a write-in candidate because the Democrats didn't put up anyone to run against Pombo. Jerry managed to get enough write-in votes (by less than 10) to get on the ballot in the General Election. Many of our local Clark group did fundraising and campaigning for McNerney.

Pombo has to go. Because of redistricting he now represents some fairly liberal communities in the Bay Area. If they get mobilized against him the Dems may have a chance. Still the Central Valley wing nuts love him and his cowboy hat.

14. Yes I was active in the McKerney campaign as well.
I certainly will do all I can to defeat Pombo in O6', and I agree with your analysis.

I suppose we may have met in "real life" at some point. LOL.

15. Good point.
I don't think his defense of Delay would go over well with a lot of his supporters, especially given Delay's most recent actions.

16. Delay is looking like toast in just about everywhere as far as I'm
concerned! Your local paper may find these statements from such a high level representative very effective at selling newspapers right now. Like I said, that may lead to the removal of this freakazoid from power! WE can use all the help we can get for the next election cycle!

20. right on,
so you know about mcnerny. He's good people, he spoke here at a local dem meeting, and talked real in depth about his campaign, it's mistakes and triumphs, and how he's recognizes them, and it' sounds like he's going to run again. He gave a lot of credit to Dean people, Clark people, and union people, for helping him do so well against pombo despite flaws and misgivings of his campaign.

19. Gee. What a wit that man has! Can crying partisanship finally wear thin?
DeLay's a criminal and my guess is that this asshole is as well, since he doesn't recognise the crime. We need to call them criminals EVERY day.
